Setup and use GeoTagging of Camera Photos on iPhone 6
Edited by Grimm, Rushell, Eng, VisiHow and 3 others
You're watching VisiHow. In this tutorial we are going to show you how to use GeoTagging on the iPhone 6.
Steps
1
To get started, we're going to need to press the Home button at the bottom of the phone one time
.
2
Then swipe across the screen to enter a PIN or passcode
.
3
Alternatively, we can press and hold a finger or thumb print on the Home button
.
This will unlock the phone and open the home screen. In order to enable GeoTagging, we need to first be sure that Location Services is enabled and that access has been granted to the camera.
4
To do this, locate the "Settings" icon, which is a silver and gray box with some gears inside of it
.
It is labeled "Settings" at the bottom. This icon could be located anywhere on the home screen.
5
When it has been found, press the "Settings" icon one time
.
6
On the "Settings" menu, scroll down to the third section
.
We want the bottom option in that section, which is "Privacy". This option is represented by a hand-shaped icon.
7
Give one tap to "Privacy"
.
8
Once we've tapped on "Privacy", we need to tap on "Location Services"
.
This is the very first option on the "Privacy" menu, and it's marked with a white arrow in a blue box.
9
Tap on "Location Services", and we will see that "Location Services" can be enabled or disabled using the switch on the right side of the screen
.
The green switch means it is enabled.
10
If we tap on the switch, this will disable "Location Services"
.
We'll just tap on "Cancel" at the bottom of the screen, as this is not what we want to do right now. "Location Services" will need to be turned on in order to be able to use GeoTagging.
11
On the "Location Services" menu, we'll scroll down and tap on "Camera"
.
12
On the "Camera" settings screen, make sure that "While Using the App" is the option that is checked, and not "Never"
.
This allows access to our location when the application is running or when features of the application are running or visible on the screen. Specifically in terms of GeoTagging, it tags the actual location of any photos or videos where they are taken. The only exception to this is if we are in an area where we don't have connectivity or the ability to establish a location.
13
Now we're going to tap the arrow at the top left corner of the screen to go back
.
14
On the "Location Services" screen, again confirm that the "Camera" is set to "While Using"
.
15
Scroll up and confirm that "Location Services" is turned on
.
16
Tap back on "Privacy" at the top left corner
.
17
On the "Privacy" screen, again confirm that "Location Services" is turned on
.
18
Then we'll tap back on "Settings" at the top left-hand corner
.
19
Double tap on the Home button
.
20
Then swipe up on the "Settings" menu thumbnail to close it
.
21
Tap once on the the home screen thumbnail image to return to the home screen
.
22
We're now looking for the "Camera" icon, which is a silver box with a black camera
.
Press that one time.
23
We have the option to take photos, and our photos will now be tagged with the name of the place they were taken at the top
.
We can see in this demonstration that the photo on the screen was taken in Tbilisi. This is because we have GeoTagging turned on, and this lets myself and others see where our photos were taken.
24
We can press the Home button now to return to the home screen of our phone
.
Then we can begin using the phone for anything else we would like to do, including taking some photos and having them tagged automatically with our location.
