   First, let me explain what the option was created for

   In case you lost your phone and you don't want somebody else to have access to your personal account and private conversations, your Telegram account will delete all its information by itself. This will make sure that the third party will not be able to have access to it or message others from your name.

   Open Settings first on the bottom right-hand side

   At the very bottom, there is an option to delete my account if I'm away for a certain period of time

    So if you do not log in at least once within this period, which is 3 months, your account will be automatically deleted, along with all of the groups, messages and contacts
