Hi you are watching VisiHow and today we are going to show you how to set up a basic table lamp.

    First thing we want to do is open the box, already taken care of

    Next we're going to take the inner pieces out, and see what is in the box
    .
    The first thing we have is a lamp head as you can see, and attached power cable

    As you can see there is currently no base attached to that lamp, so what we're going to do is set that down and see what else is in the box
    .
    A very heavy lamp base, nothing else in here. And here we have the base of the lamp

    We're going to open this, no need to be careful with this, there's no power cords attached
    .

    Here's our base plate

    This has no electrical function at all (the base plate)
    .
    It does have a small screw on the back.

    So what we're going to do , very simply is to put the base plate down, and take the lamp, and insert the lamp into the base plate

    And take the little screw and hand tighten it

    I have a knob here on the side if I want to move the lamp up and down
    .

    And I also have another knob at the top which allows me to move this piece up or down

    The only thing left to do here is to put a light bulb in and to plug it in
    .
    I have chosen an energy saver light bulb. An energy star light bulb. This has 1600 lumens , its a 23 watt, but due to the design of the light bulb, it is equivalent to a 112 watt light bulb

    Its a warm and bright light
    .
    This light will take a minute or two to start up once I turn it on, however, once that happens, it's actually quite bright. Untwist the tie from the cord , get it opened up and plug in the lamp

    So that's all there is to it, I've showed you how to get the light set up, get it started, we can aim it on the wall, aim it up, put it pretty much wherever I want
    .
    Its just a little bit of extra light, the kind that helps if you are writing or shooting videos.
