    To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

    Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

    To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

    Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

    We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

    There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

    Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the WhatsApp application
    .
    There is a WhatsApp icon, which is a green speech bubble with a white telephone inside, and underneath it says "WhatsApp". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder.

    We now need to tap the menu icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

    Tap on "Light" in the "Message notifications" section

    In this example, it says the word "White" underneath, indicating the color currently chosen. This will bring up a list of different colors. We can personalize this application quite a lot, which can be quite fun.

    We're going to choose "Blue". It will then say "Blue" underneath of "Light", indicating that we have successfully changed this option. When we receive message notifications, the light of our HTC One M8 is going to flash blue.
