Edited by Thor, JellyBean, Eng
Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video we are going to show you how to set a photo from the Gallery application as a Contact icon on an HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the top of the phone
.
2
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen
.
To unlock the phone swipe the screen upwards.
3
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen
.
At the bottom we will see some icons.
4
It is one of these icons that we now need to utilize because we need to open up the Applications folder
.
To do that we need this icon located at the bottom of the Home screen in the middle. We can see that there is a grid made up of white dots.
5
Press down on this icon, and it will open up our "Apps" folder
.
6
In this demonstration, it is the first icon on the second row
.
We can see that there is an icon of a photo of what looks like some yellow sand dunes. Underneath it says the word "Gallery".
7
Press down on this icon, and it will open up the "Album" application
.
In this video tutorial we want to demonstrate how to set a photo from this application as a Contact icon. By contact icon, we mean Profile photo.
8
To do that then, we need to select an "Album"
.
We can select any "Album" that we like.
9
We'll select an album by pressing down on it
.
Now, choose a photo and press down on the photo.
10
Now, we can see that the photo is there, but we need to make the icons appear at the bottom and the top of the screen
.
11
To do that just press down on the screen
.
12
Now we can see that icons have appeared
.
We are looking for the icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
13
It will disappear quite quickly
.
14
Just press down on the screen again, and the icon has reappeared
.
We can see that there are three small white circles or dots in a vertical line.
15
Now, press down on this icon, and it will open up this menu
.
We're looking for the option that says, "Set as".
16
Press down on the words "Set as", and we get a menu
.
We need the first option, "Contact icon" with "People" underneath.
17
Press down on this option, and we have our Contact list
.
We have two options. We're going to use "Terry" because "Terry" does not have a Contact icon. There is no Profile photo.
18
Press down on the option preferred
.
Press down on the Contact, and we have the ability to "Crop" the photo. We can see it says the word "Crop" at the top left corner.
19
To "Crop" the photo press down on the box and move it around until it's in a location that we're happy with
.
20
We can also make the box bigger by pressing down on one of the green circles in the corner
.
21
We can see each corner has a little turquoise circle
.
Press down on it and drag down to make the box bigger.
22
Now, we can choose the location of the box
.
When we're happy with that, press down on the word "DONE" in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
23
Now it says, "CROPPING PHOTO..."
.
24
Then it says, "The picture has been assigned to the contact"
.
25
We're going to go back now by pressing the Back arrow in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen
.
26
27
28
Press down on it three times, and that will take us back to the "Apps" folder
.
29
Now, we're going to press down on the "People" icon
.
We can see that there is an icon of a contact card, and it says the word "People" underneath.
30
We can see here we have "Terry".
31
Now we have that Contact icon or Profile photo that we have added from the Gallery application
.
32
This concludes our tutorial on how to set a photo from the Gallery application as a Contact icon on an HTC One M8
.
