To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the WhatsApp application
.
There is a WhatsApp icon, which is a green speech bubble with a white telephone inside, and underneath it says "WhatsApp". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder. We want to demonstrate how to set a message notification tone for a specific WhatsApp contact. We can set different message notification tones for all of our different contacts, so when we receive a message and hear that unique tone, we'll know what contact is contacting us.

We must first find a contact and tap on them

We can use the "CHATS" or "CONTACTS" section. We're going to choose Terry.

Tap on the menu icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

In this example it says, "Enabled" underneath, meaning that this option is turned on.

Make sure that the box to the right of "Use custom notifications" is green with a white check mark inside

If it is, it means that the other options that available to change.

Tap "Notification tone"

In this example it says, "Carnation" underneath, indicating that this tone is currently selected. Pressing down on this option will bring up a long list of tones.

We can listen to them by pressing down on them

We can choose the one that we want and make sure the green circle is next to it, then tap "OK" in the bottom right-hand corner

It will then say the new tone under "Notification tone", indicating that we have successfully changed this option. This contact now has a unique and specific tone, so we will be able to identify them from the notification tone that we hear from the HTC One M8. We can do this for all of our contacts, which is a good thing. It is useful to be able to tell who is sending us a message just by hearing the notification sound.
