Edited by Lukward Thomason, Ash0hley, Jen M
Hi. You're watching VisiHow, and this is a tutorial on how to set default programs for various files on Windows 7 computers.
Steps
1
Start off by clicking on the 'Start Menu' button, which is located on the lower left corner of the screen
.
2
3
Then go to 'Default Programs'
.
4
Click it once and a new window will open
.
5
Once in this window, we're looking for the 'Set your default programs' link
.
6
Click it once, and wait for it to load
.
Notice, that not all of the programs that we have installed will be on this list. For example, we can clearly see that UltraISO is on the desktop, but there is no UltraISO in the program section.
7
We know what UltraISO does
.
It is an image editing tool. In this case, we have Windows Disc Image Burner in the list.
8
We know that we have UltraISO on the computer
.
We're going to choose a default for this program. Click 'Choose defaults for this program'.
9
Now, we check UltraISO in the list, and click 'Save"
.
10
If we try to burn disc image, it will be burned with UltraISO
.
The same goes with every program. For example: If we click Google Chrome, and then choose defaults for this program, we can see a list of all the files and protocols that can be assigned to Google Chrome.
11
For example, .htm, .html, and so on
.
12
We can adjust all of the settings that we need from here
.
Just check the file types that we want Google Chrome to open by default.
13
Once we have finished, click 'Save'
.
14
When we have set everything according to our preferences, we can close this window
.
15
This concludes the tutorial on how to set default programs for various files on Windows 7 computers
.
