Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to send a file from an HTC One M8 to another device via Bluetooth.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone
.
Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.
2
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up
.
Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We first need to make sure that we have paired a device to our HTC One M8, to allow us to transfer files between the phone and a device. Let's swipe the notification panel down.
3
To do that, press your finger at the top of the screen and swipe downwards
.
This will open the notification panel.
4
We want to tap the white cog icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
.
This is our settings icon and it will open up the settings menu. It will say the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen when it is opened.
5
We need to tap on "Bluetooth" in the "WIRELESS & NETWORKS" section
.
We need to make sure the Bluetooth is turned on. If it's not turned on, we will not be able to transfer files or connect to other devices. If it's on, the Bluetooth icon will be green, and the switch on the right-hand side of the screen will say "ON".
6
Right now, in the "PAIRED DEVICES" section, we can see we're paired and connected to "ORB"
.
7
If we didn't have any devices paired, we could tap on "Scan for devices"
.
Once that's done, we need to find the file that we want to send to the device via Bluetooth.
8
We're going to go back by pressing the back arrow in the bottom left-hand corner until we arrive at the home screen
.
9
Now we will open the application folder, which is the icon in the middle, at the bottom
.
There are three rows of three small white dots. Tap this icon.
10
We are going to tap on "Gallery" because we're going to send a photo
.
This will show us our albums.
11
We're going to choose a photo from the "Screenshots" folder
.
You can choose a folder from any of the albums if you're sending a photo.
12
Now we will tap the Share icon at the top
.
It is a white dot with 2 arrows coming from it. This is going to open the Share options.
13
We need to tap on "Bluetooth"
.
It will have the Bluetooth icon (the blue icon with the Bluetooth symbol) with "Bluetooth" underneath it.
14
It will ask us to select the photos we want to share
.
We can select multiple items at the same time. We will select one, then tap on "NEXT" in the bottom right corner. The number of images being sent will be shown next to it.
15
Now it will ask us which device we want to send the file to
.
We can scan for devices by tapping "Scan for devices". Since we are already connected to a device, we will tap on that.
16
At the bottom, it says, "Sending 1 files to "ORB""
.
In your case, it will say the name of the device it is being sent to. The receiving device will be asked if it wants to receive this image, and it will be asked to confirm this choice. Make sure the recipient accepts it. Eventually, it will be successfully transferred.
17
We can see at the bottom it says, "Bluetooth share
:
Sent" with the file name.
18
We can see in the top left-hand corner, there is an icon indicating that there is a process in motion
.
19
If we swipe the notification panel down by pressing at the top of the screen and swiping down, it will say "Bluetooth share
:
Sent files. 1 successful, 0 unsuccessful". We need to make sure we check that because that's an important way of making sure that we have successfully completed the transfer.
20
If we press down on it, it will go to the "Outbound transfers" page, where it will show us more information about it
.
It shows the title, date and time it was sent, the size, and the status.
21
This concludes the tutorial on how to send a file from an HTC One M8 to another device via Bluetooth
