Sonos Wireless Speakers
Sonos makes a number of different wireless speakers that you can buy to customize your listening experience. Using one, two, or a number of different model speakers, you can build your own wireless home theater in just about any room.
Each of these wireless speakers support compressed MP3, iTunes Plus, WMA, AAC (MPEG4), AAC+, Ogg Vorbis, Apple Lossless, FLAC (lossless) music files, as well as uncompressed WAV and AIFF files.
There are a number of music services that are compatible including Pandora, Spotify, Deezer and SoundCloud. The Play models are sealed and are able to withstand high humidity environments like a bathroom with a running shower, but they are not waterproof.
Sonos Play:1
The Sonos Play:1 is the smallest of all the Sonos models that can be used by itself in a room like living room or kitchen. You can pair up a number of these to create a left and right stereo effect, or even place them around the house to have music as you move from room to room. It weighs around 4.08 lbs and the dimensions are 6.36 x 4.69 x 4.69 inches. This model has 2 Class-D digital amplifiers that power with the tweeter and mid-woofer.
Sonos Play:3
The Sonos Play:3 can be considered the mid sized model of the Play line. It weighs 5.71 lbs and the dimensions are 5.2 x 10.6 x 6.3 inches. There are 3 Class-D digital amplifiers that power the tweeter, two mid woofers, and one bass radiator.
Sonos Play:5
Here we have the largest and most powerful model in the Play line. The Play:5 weighs heavier than the other models at 14 lbs which makes it 8.03 x 14.33 x 6.06 inches. This model packs a punch by having 6 Class-D digital amplifiers and that will power three tweeters and three dedicates mid-woofers.
Sonos Sub
If you're looking to combine a number of Play wireless speakers to build your own home theater system, you'll want to get your hands on the Sonos Sub, This subwoofer will get you that bass used in movie tracks for explosions and other deep sounds. The Sub is 15.3 x 15.8 x 6.2 inches and it weighs in at 36.3 lbs. The frequency response will go as low as 25 Hz which makes it perfect for your movie soundtrack. It is compatible with the Play:1, Play:3, Play:5 and the Playbar so you can really mix and match to create some really nice home theater sound. The Sub contains 2 Class-D digital amplifiers which power two force-cancelling speaker drivers positioned face-to-face for deeper, richer sound.
Sonos Playbar
The Playbar is Sonos' answer to the soundbar. It is to be placed under your video device and can be used as a center speaker or a standalone simple surround sound system. The Playbar contains 9 Class-D digital amplifiers that powers six midrange speakers and three tweeters. Specs show it weighs 11.9 lbs and is 3.35 x 35.43 x 5.51 inches.
