    Press the home button located at the bottom of your phone to unlock your phone

    Enter your passcode or press your finger on the home button to get to the home screen

    Locate the Kayak application icon and tap it once to access the application
    .
    I have some applications stored in such folders as "Utilities", "Useful", and "Travel". A recognizable orange logotype with the big white "K" in my "Travel" folder is the Kayak application.

    In the main menu, tap on the airplane icon in the first row, which also says "Flights", as we are looking for flights

    The application already recommends flights from London to New York.

    To change the search to a round ticket, which means "there and back", press on "Round trip" in the middle
    .
    The search is initially set to a one-way ticket. You can also change it to "Multi-city". That option will search for non-direct routes where you change flights, which allows you to find a cheaper ticket, prolong your flight, or find the only option available.

    Tap "One-way"

    To change departure or arrival location, tap on the "FROM" or "TO" field respectively
    .
    After tapping on, for example, "TO", you can type your required destination airport.

    Type in the name of the airport
    .
    For example, if you want to specify the JFK airport in New York, start typing "JFK".

    Tap on the found result on top to select the airport

    You can also use your current location by tapping on "Current location" if you have the GPS feature enabled for the application.

    Tap "Today" to change the dates

    Maybe "Today" is quite on short notice, so I select June 11th. Tapping the date will return you to the main menu

    To change the number of travellers, tap either plus or minus
    .
    The two icons are located on the right-hand side. For example, select two travellers by clicking the plus icon once.

    Then just click "Find flights"

    Do not press anything on the screen while there is a spinning plane icon in the middle, as it might confuse the application
    .
    As you can see there is a very small orange bar moving across the screen on top as the application is finding the flights. It does take a while, but there is quite a lot for what to search.

    Select your flight
    .
    As you can see now, it is giving you a promotional deal at the top, which is not necessarily going to be the best price. Instead, the default search lists the lowest price deals first. In this case, it is Norwegian Airlines with a flight that costs only £248, which is quite cheap to get to New York from London.
