Hi, you're watching VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to schedule disk optimization on a Windows 8 computer.
Steps
1
The first thing that we need to do is right-click on the lower left corner of the screen, then click "Control Panel"
.
2
When the Control Panel window opens, we need to click "System and Security"
.
3
Scroll down and click "Administrative Tools"
.
4
When it opens, we need to double-click "Defragment and Optimize drives"
5
When the menu opens, we need to click "Change Settings" in the "Scheduled optimization" section
.
6
Here, we need to first make sure that the "Run on a schedule" box is checked
.
7
Then, we can select the frequency by clicking the drop-down arrow
.
In this case, it's set to be optimized weekly.
8
We can make it "Daily", "Weekly", or "Monthly"
.
9
If we check the "Notify me if three consecutive scheduled runs are missed" box, If there's any problem with the schedule, or the system couldn't do it, then we will be notified about it
.
10
To set the drives, click "Choose"
.
11
From here, check the drives to optimize
.
For example, we'll leave the (C:) drive unchecked, and it will only optimize the (D:) and System Reserved drives.
12
If we check "Automatically optimize new drives" and add any new drives to the computer, then the optimization will be automatically scheduled for it
.
We won't have to go to this menu to select it manually.
13
Set everything here according to your preference, then click "OK"
.
14
15
Now we can close all of the Windows
.
16
This concludes the tutorial on how to schedule disk optimization on a Windows 8 computer
.
