Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how you can save battery life on a Microsoft Lumia 535.
To begin, press the Power button located on the right-hand side of the phone. Press the Power button to activate the phone.
Swipe up to go the Home screen.
The easiest way to save battery is to use a battery saving app. You can swipe to the left to go to the App menu. Here is the Battery Saver app. Press the tile to open it.
We have different options such as Settings.
If we click on Settings, we can see how much of battery is being used. Tap on different apps so we can see how much they have been using.
Tap on "show all apps" to show all apps that can run in the background such as Weather.
Press on the Weather icon and then we can allow this app to run in the background even when Battery Saver is on.
We can change some of this. Make sure that your App in Background uses only 1% instead of using 9.4%.
We can change some of these Settings allowing us to save battery life. We can see that Cortana is using 3.4%. We can see options such as "Allow app to run in the background" and some other Settings. You can change these according to what you need.
If you have plenty of battery life, you can leave these as they are because you will be using a lot of these apps. For example, if you are not using Cortana, then you can switch it off - or you can let it run in the background.
That is the first way to save battery - to conserve battery. The second option is to go to the Settings, then to go to Display. Tap on Settings.
We're in Settings. I'm going to go down to Display, it should be somewhere near the bottom.
Press Display. Now we have some options. We have Battery Saver Brightness which reduces the screen brightness when Battery Saver is active.
We are going to slide that across. This will reduce the screen brightness when battery saver is active. That is the option we need.
We can also go to Screen Brightness. Screen Brightness should have its own settings. Here, we are on Brightness. Press that and we can have the low level - Low, Medium, and High. The brighter the screen, the more the battery is using. That can take away a lot of the battery. So you can change that to conserve battery.
If we click on Battery Saver, we see how much battery life is left - 20%, 1 hour and 36 minutes. What we can do here is turn on Battery Saver - save battery life when the battery is under 20%. It will enable some settings like the one we have just activated - the brightness. Brightness will be reduced when the battery goes under 20%. It will also remove some applications in the background when the battery is under 20%. Press the option. Always - you do not always want to conserve battery life because some applications will not function properly.
We also have Usage to show apps that run in the background - as we looked up earlier.
The next thing we can do is email synchronization. Having to check your emails constantly could use a lot of the battery. If we go to Email+Accounts, we have an account here, so we click on that.
Here, we have "Download new content based on my usage" so your phone will download new emails based on how much you check your email account. If you want to save battery, you can change the settings to only look for emails once a day, once every 15 minutes, or once every 30 minutes. If you have assorted items that arrive and you got a lot of emails, then it will take a lot of the battery. If you just sort through email every 30 minutes, hourly, or daily then it will only do this process that many times - saving you the battery, but you will also not see emails instantaneously. There may be a delay. It depends on how urgent they are or based on your preferences.
There is also another option if we go to Start+Theme.
The background is on this part of the phone. We can choose Dark or Light. Light is obviously using a lot of power. It might have been easier to see things or might be easier to use it, but it usually uses a lot of power.
If you change themes into Dark, you will conserve battery life.
This concludes our tutorial on how to conserve or save battery life when using a Microsoft Lumia 535. The things to remember are how to go to the battery saver app to change the display settings, the screen brightness, the dark background and also to sync emails to be checked at intervals; and not always to be checked repeatedly. You have been watching VisiHow. Goodbye!
