Save an Adobe Illustrator File as a Picture File
Edited by vanessa, Melissa Rae, Jen M
Welcome to VisiHow. In this video, you're going to learn how to save an Adobe Illustrator file as a picture file so that you can use it.
Steps
1
The first thing we're going to do is click on "Document Setup"
.
We're going to do this so that we can change the size of the artboard and decrease the amount of white space around our logo. Click on "Document Setup".
2
Click on "Edit Artboards"
.
Now we'll see some anchors around the edges of the artboard.
3
Click and drag inwards to decrease the white space around the logo
.
Once finished, press "Esc" on the keyboard, and we'll see that the artboard is smaller.
4
Next, go to "File" and "Save for Web & Devices..."
.
This will allow us to save the logo for use on the internet or anywhere else.
5
Under "Preset", click on the drop-down menu and choose different types of files
.
We normally choose PNG-24 because it allows the background of the logo to be transparent.
6
Click on "Save", and save the file wherever you'd like
.
7
We can go to the file location, double-click, and the logo will appear
.
It is transparent in the back.
8
We can also save the logo as a jpeg file
.
Again, go to "File" and "Save for Web & Devices...".
9
Under "Preset", we can choose "JPEG" and the resolution
.
For "JPEG High", we will have a high resolution.
10
Click on "Save", choose a location and click on "Save" again
.
11
We can find the file, but notice now that the background is not transparent
.
12
You have just learned how to save your Adobe Illustrator file as a picture file
.
