    Before you begin, connect your phone and computer using the Lightning cable

    Then, make sure the iPhone is selected at the top left corner of the screen when you are in iTunes.

    Additionally, "Find my iPhone" must be turned off before your iPhone can be restored
    .
    If you try to restore backup with "Find my iPhone" turned on, a popup message will appear prompting you to turn it off. In order to turn off "Find my iPhone", click the gear-shaped "Settings" icon on your iPhone.

    In the Settings menu, click on iCloud

    You may have to scroll down a bit to locate the option that says "Find My iPhone"

    Click on "Find My iPhone" once.

    At the top of the "Find My iPhone" screen, click the switch at the top to turn it off

    When the switch is grey, this feature is turned off. If the switch appears with a green highlight, it is turned on.

    To turn off this feature, you will be prompted to enter in your Apple ID and password

    Once your information is entered, "Find My iPhone" will be turned off. Then, you can return to iTunes on your Mac and click on "OK".

    With "Find My iPhone" turned off on your iPhone, go back to iTunes and click the blue button that says "Restore Backup" on the iPhone screen

    Below the drop down menu, we can see that my latest backup was today at 4:09 PM. When you have selected the backup you want to use, click on "Restore".
