Edited by Thor, Courtney, Eng
Hello, welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to rename a device that is paired with an HTC One M8 via Bluetooth.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button
.
This button is located on top of the device.
2
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen
.
3
To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe upwards
.
4
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen
.
At the bottom, there will be a row of five various icons. We now need to find the Settings menu. To do this, we need to swipe the Notification panel down.
5
To bring down the Notification panel, press down right at the top of the screen and swipe downwards
.
6
Now we can see that the Notification panel has appeared, with a white cog icon in the top right-hand corner
.
This is our Settings icon.
7
Tap on the Settings icon, this will open up our Settings menu
.
We can see it says the word "Settings", in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
8
We now need to be in the section labeled "WIRELESS & NETWORKS"
.
It will read this in a gray bar, located at the top of this section.
9
We now want to tap on the third option down, labeled "Bluetooth"
.
To the left of the word "Bluetooth", there is the Bluetooth icon.
10
This will enter us into the "Bluetooth" settings
.
In order to see the device that we are paired with, we need to turn the Bluetooth function on.
11
Let's turn our Bluetooth on by pressing the "OFF" icon, located at the top of the screen
.
If the Bluetooth is turned off, we can turn it on by pressing this icon. If it is already turned on, then we can leave it as it is and skip this step.
12
We can see that the icon has changed, it will now be labeled "ON" in white writing
.
Part of the rectangle will now be green in color.
13
This screen will now show a section labeled "PAIRED DEVICE"
.
14
We can see that we are currently paired with one device
.
This device is labeled "ORB". What we want to do is change the name of this paired device. The name shown is the standard name, it is simply the default name for that particular device. It will be a lot easier for us if we can rename devices, with more personal names such as; "Mom", "Dad", "Tony", "James", "Work", or something that makes it a lot easier for us to identify the different devices. This is especially useful if we are using Bluetooth in a public place, where there are lots of devices present.
15
In order to rename this device, we are going to press down on the cog icon, located to the right of the device name
.
16
This will bring up some options regarding this device
.
17
We want to tap on the first option, titled "Rename"
.
Underneath of this, the current device name will be written. In our case, it will say "ORB".
18
This will bring up a dialog box
.
Here we can delete the current name to type in a new one.
19
Press down in the middle of the text box, moving the cursor so we are in a position to delete the name
.
20
Now we are going to type in the new name for this device, in our case we will type "Work"
.
21
Once we are happy with the name, press down on the right option labeled "OK"
.
22
We can now see that we have successfully renamed this device
.
This process will work for every device, as long as it is paired to our HTC One M8. We can follow this same procedure to rename them.
23
This then concludes our tutorial, on how to rename a device paired with an HTC One M8 via Bluetooth
.
