Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to refine search results using the Twitter application on the HTC One M8.
Steps
1
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the top of the phone
.
Once the phone has been activated, we will see the lock screen.
2
To unlock the phone, swipe the screen upwards
.
Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the home screen and multiple icons at the bottom. It is one of these icons that we will access to open up the applications folder.
3
Tap the icon that looks like a grid of white dots, that is located at the bottom of the screen in the middle to open the applications folder
.
4
Find the Twitter application, and tap on it once to open the application
.
The Twitter application has a blue background with a white bird on it, with the word "Twitter" underneath it. Your Twitter application may be in a different position in this folder, therefore you will need to find it.
5
We now need to perform a search by tapping on the magnifying glass icon located inside the blue bar across the top of the screen
.
This will allow us to perform a search.
6
Tap on the magnifying glass with the words "Search Twitter" located at the top of the screen
.
7
Type in some terms or words to search for, and tap on a specific search to select it
.
In this example, we're searching for the word "Cloud" and we can see the word cloud is highlighted in the bold black in the search, and all of the posts have a cloud reference.
8
To refine that search, we will tap on the icon located at the top of the screen in the blue bar that looks like two horizontal lines with circles on those lines in different positions
.
This will allow us to refine our results.
9
To search for individually specified results, tap on them one
.
We can see the word "Everything" is highlighted in bold black, and that means this is the option selected. We can search individually for "Photos", "Videos", "News", or "People".
10
We can also tap on "MORE OPTIONS" to bring up more options to search for, like "All people" which means everyone in the world who uses Twitter, or "People you follow" which is just people we follow
.
We can also choose "Everywhere" or "Near you" which is Tweets and posts near us. To change any of these options, we will just tap on them once. When we tap on them, it will highlight the title in bold black.
11
In this example, we'll tap on "Photos", "All people" and "Everywhere"
.
12
When we're happy with the new options selected, we will tap on "APPLY" in blue located in the top-right corner of the screen
.
Now it's going to only search what we've searched for. In this example, it's just going to show photos with the cloud reference. We've refined our search into a much more specific search.

This concludes our tutorial on how to refine search results using the Twitter application on the HTC One M8
