How to Change Headset Settings for the Samsung Galaxy S4
This section will briefly describe the HS330 headphones that are standard with your Samsung Galaxy S4, and explain how you can change settings on your headphones so you can not only take incoming calls, but can also improve the quality of the music between calls.
- 1Features of the HS330 headphones with the Galaxy S4:
- The HS330 headphones have bigger ear buds than previous models.
- Each earpiece has a dual speaker for a Hi-Fi stereo audio, 10 mm woofers, 8 mm treble, three pairs of ear plugs, a tangle-free cord, and a larger control pod for easier handling.
- There are two switches on the control pod, however, they function as three: one rocker switch for volume control, and one (select button) to press for incoming calls that has a dual purpose.
- The Select Button is a "pause" button, and fast forward button to the next song as well.
- The Select Button for incoming calls will also signal that you have a call with the Samsung S-Voice.
- These are fair headphones, but you can set only a little bass with them for your music app.
- However, you can enhance your music audio settings considerably with "Adapt Sound". It will be described, with easy steps to use it, below.
- 2With the "Select" button, you can perform many functions:Control music from the control pod of the Galaxy S4 headphones.
- You can turn on music with one tap.
- You can fast forward to the next song with two taps.
- You can pause a tune by pressing when you have an incoming call.
- Unfortunately, as standard, there is no rewinding to a previous song. You will have to do that directly from your Galaxy S4.
- You can still control and manage your music selections with the control pod switches while using any of your other applications.
- 3Adapt Sound is for a better sound quality setting.
- Adapt Sound is an integrated sound system application that is already in your Samsung Galaxy S4.
- Adapt Sound enhances the sound quality, and even adapts to your hearing and the HS330 headphones.
- To set up Adapt Sound, you must have your headphones on securely, and you must have no sound in the room. Follow these steps for optimal listening pleasure:
- Scroll to the Settings menu.
- Touch "My Device", and then tap "Sound".
- At the bottom of the screen is "Adapt Sound".
- Tap "Adapt Sound". Next, tap "Start".
- The Adapt Sound Hearing Test will start.
- After you have tapped "Start", you will immediately hear continuous beeping sounds of varied tones.
- You will tap "Yes" or "No" to each beep signal after each time interval.
- Do not be alarmed at the results because they are determined by both your hearing at various frequencies and your headphone set.
- This hearing test and adjustment will be channeled for each ear.
- It will also ask you which ear you favor for phone conversations, so that it will use the settings for that ear on incoming calls.
- Note that if you change to another set of headphones, you will have to go through this process again for the enhanced audio.
- 4Control voice command settings with your headphones
- You can go from any Galaxy S4 app and send the S "Voice Commands" using the control pod's Select button.
- Just press the button until there is a "beep". This signals that the S-Voice is turned on.
- Now, just release, and say your command.
- 5With the S-Voice you can open widgets, applications, play selected music by saying the song title, and check on conditions around you (time, traffic conditions, and the local weather forecast).
- Here are some examples of things you can do with your S-Voice commands: "Tell me the weather for St. Louis today", "Navigate me to the (name) mall", "Find a McDonald's near me", "Record my voice now", "Open the camera", "Find me a dentist", etc.
- As you can see, the choices are limitless because it processes your keywords from simple commands.
- 6The Android JAYS headset:
- As mentioned earlier, the one function lacking on the HS330 headphones' select button is "rewind". If you are purchasing a Galaxy S4, and a sales person tells you that it can, ask him to demonstrate it. As it comes out of the box, it is not possible.
- The JAYS headset is capable of rewind and has better bass, along with having all the other features that the HS330 headphones have.
- 7If you want total control of your tunes from your headset, there are excellent headsets available that will work well with your Samsung mobile device.
So, now you know how to change headset settings to use voice commands (S-Voice), music tracks/songs, volume control, and incoming calls. You have also learned how to improve the quality of your audio for phone conversation and music enjoyment.

Possible Reasons Why the Call Waiting Feature is Not Working
Some of the possible reasons why you can't make use of the call waiting feature include the following:
- 1Check to see if the Call Waiting feature on your Samsung Galaxy S4 is enabled. If not, a second user will not appear on call waiting.Call Waiting Disabled.
- From your home screen, tap "Phone".
- Press the "Menu" key.
- Tap on "Settings".
- Tap "Additional Settings".

- 3Another possible reason the call waiting feature won't work might be the most obvious reason; simply if the caller cannot access you because you've barred him or her. Placing certain people on your reject list will also block them from coming through call waiting.Caller is Barred.

Questions and Answers
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and it has everything listed above EXCEPT the "Additional Settings" option. Why am I missing this?
Caller ID
Some service providers, like Verizon, disable this menu on their version of Samsung Galaxy S4. As shown in this comparison of two Galaxy S4 phones with different carriers, you will see that Additional Settings is available on the right side, while there is none on the left side. You will also notice that the Call forwarding is directly on the Call Settings of the left phone, while this setting is under the Additional Settings of the right phone. The options under the Additional Call Settings are:
- - allows you to display or hide your caller ID in outgoing calls (carrier dependent).
- - allows you to forward calls received on your device.
- - allows your phone to automatically add area code to a number
- - allows you to block outgoing calls from your device.
- - allows your phone to allow call waiting so you will be notified when an incoming call is available while you are still on the other line.
- - allows your phone to redial when there is no answer from the other end
- - allows you to manage Fixed Dialing Numbers.
If you noticed, most of these options are network dependent, so even if you turn off your caller ID, it will still show on the phone of the person you are calling unless your carrier has enabled it. This is the reason why Verizon opts not to show the Additional Settings. If you want to enable any of the options above, except for call forwarding, you can call your carrier's customer care and ask for service activation. If you want to enable Call Forwarding on your device, you can enable it directly on the Settings menu. You can also refer to this detailed article on how to Setup Call Forwarding on Samsung Galaxy S4 .
Since the Additional Settings cannot be found in your settings menu and it is missing, the problem might be your Network provider or service provider. If not then maybe it is with the phone carrier.
There is also a case that there are two different classes of Samsung Galaxy S4. There are certain S4 phones that do not support the Additional Settings and there are those that do. Unfortunately, your phone is one of the phones that does not support or has the Additional Settings. </current> <current call="">===How to I get a Galaxy S4 active, to tell me who is calling?===
How do I get the handset to tell me who is calling, not just show the name/number?
You need to turn on TalkBack mode so your phone will speak out the name of your caller. It is important to note that when in TalkBack mode, your phone will speak every icon, menu, or application that you tap. You can check on this article about Disable / Turn OFF TalkBack (Talk Back) Mode in Samsung Galaxy S4.
You can also check on this video on how to enable and disable Samsung Galaxy S4.
If you do not want to enable TalkBack but still want the caller name spoken by phone, you can download Caller Name Announcer on Play Store.
All you need to do is turn on driving mode.
1. Go to your Settings.
2. Select Language and Input.
3. Press Text to Speech Output.
4. Then select Driving Mode to activate it.
You can also go to Driving Mode settings and modify what notifications it will give you.
Question about Samsung ear buds supplied with phone?
Can I answer calls using some button on these ear buds? Does not seem to work"
The headset that comes free with your Samsung Galaxy S4 can accept calls and change call volumes. To answer, press on the answer/end button (upper button with two protruding points). If you want to cut the call short, press on the same button again. If you want to adjust volumes of calls or music, you can use the volume rockers at the button of the answer/end button. This headset post on Amazone will guide you on how it look like and how much does it usually cost.
If your headset Calling Button does not seem to work, borrow the same item from a friend to see if the problem is with your headset. If you do not have any friends who can help you with the cable, you can ask the service center for a try to check if the problem is with your phone, or with the accessory.
Unfortunately if it does not work at all, then there might be some troubles in your settings. You can try looking the settings of your headphone in audio and sounds settings. Sometimes the settings for earphones are disabled. Either way, if your ear phones are defective and not working at all, you can bring them where you purchased them since they might have some warranty on them and you can ask for a replacement.
Yes if you have a question about the ear buds then simply ask here and I will answer your question.

I don't know what a soft button is and in the lower right is the return button or the apps button above that.
The soft button is located on the left hand side of the phone's home button. On the right hand side is the return or the back soft key to take you back to the last menu screen. The menu soft key button may not be visible, unless you swipe or tap it with your finger and it will be illuminated. The icon looks like an open box with 3 lines in it

I cannot view the recent all logs?
Last day I had reset my mobile set and took the SIM out. After the SIM was inserted back and restarted again, the calls logs are not able to be viewed
Unfortunately, most recent smartphones save their call logs on the phone itself and not on the SIM-card, so if you Hard Reset your phone, all of the data on your phone including your call logs will also be deleted. However, most mobile carriers offer a service that would let you retrieve your call logs. Please call your carrier and ask them if it is possible to retrieve your call logs.
