Steps
- 1Press the Lock button on the right-hand side of your phone to get started.
- 2Give a quick swipe across the screen or otherwise enter in your passcode, pin, fingerprint or face recognition, as you may have it set up.
- 3If you press on 'Apps' it will open up the applications folder.The next thing you're going to want to do is tap on the 'Apps' icon on the bottom right-hand side of your phone.
- 4A single press on the 'Settings' icon will open up the Settings panel.Once you are in your applications folder, you want to navigate to the 'Settings' icon, which is a gear shift icon.
- 5A single tap on 'Language and input' will bring up the keyboard option.In the Settings panel, you're going to scroll all the way down to the system options, and then you're going to tap on 'Language and input'.
- 6Tapping on the 'Samsung keyboard' one time will open up the keyboard option for you.
- 7A check mark to turn it on will give you auto spacing. This will automatically insert spaces between words.At that point, you can scroll down, and then you can tap on the 'Auto spacing' check box.
- 8And to add in the automatic spacing after a period, you just simply tap the checkbox and this lets you automatically put in a period by double-tapping the space bar.
- 9One quick press on the 'Home' button takes us back home.Next, press the 'Home' button and I'll show you two other ways to access this menu.
- 10Let's close Settings so that I can show you a clean install.Now, let's go over to our quick options and see what we have open.
- 11Press one time here on the 'Home' button.
- 12You can see that I now have Messages open, and in the upper left-hand corner I've got a notification of the keyboard icon.Now let's open up our 'Messages' application.
- 13Let's swipe down to the Notifications panel
- 14Now I have Samsung keyboard."Choose input method." Give that a single tap and that's going to open up our input methods choices.
- 15I can tap to set up input method.
- 16Again as before, I would tap the 'Samsung keyboard' gear shift option to get settings open.
- 17That's one way of accessing this menu.And now I can scroll down and you can see that I have "Auto-punctuate" and "Auto spacing" both selected.
- 18Press the 'Home' button one time to go back to the home screen.
- 19Now that we are back on the home screen, we can simply press our quick panel and close that Settings option again.
- 20And press the 'Home' button.
- 21Swipe down to the Notifications panel.And now I will show you one final way to do this.
- 22This brings up the same settings menu as before.Tap on the 'Settings' icon.
- 23Scroll all the way down, just as we did in the early part of this tutorial, to the system option.
- 24You are then going to press on the 'Language and input'.
- 25Give a single press.And once more the 'Samsung keyboard'.
- 26And you'll be able to scroll down and set your "Auto spacing" and "Auto-punctuate" options.
- 27When you're finished, press the 'Home' key and this will take you back to your home screen.
