    .
When a person does not perform warm up exercises before an actual game, there is the possibility of straining an arm, suffer from contracture or sprain. The body is like an oven. If you do not prepare the oven for the baking, chances are, the cake won't get properly baked. How do you prevent sports injuries?

  1. 1
    Proper Training
    .
    Training.jpg
For a particular skill in sports to develop, one should learn the sports and train to get the required skill. Without the knowledge and skill, the sports cannot be properly performed or executed during an actual game. Violation of rules may happen between players. The lack of knowledge will prevent the player from identifying what is not allowed and allowed in the game, thus sustaining or inflicting an injury to a player or sustaining one himself.

  2. 2
Warm up before the actual game
    .
    Warm up exercise.jpg
Warming up before a game is to have a couple of stretching so that the muscles and ligaments are prepped before the vigorous activity. This is also applicable to exercises. It is akin to the air conditioning unit of a car. Before you can actually feel the change in temperature, you should provide ample time for the machine to rev up its engine to deliver what you are asking. Warming up before every play is important because it prepares your body and muscles to avoid injuries. Simple warm-up could be started by doing some stretching, sit-ups or push-ups.

  3. 3
Wear the appropriate gear for the sports
    .
    Protective Gear.jpg
You cannot wear a loose pants for swimming. This will require more force for your arm and legs to swim as the extra flap of clothing also influences the flow of water. Mouth guards are essential for boxing and martial arts performance. Without this gear, you are at risk for losing a tooth or biting your tongue. Protection against blows to the head is what the helmet is for with full contact sports like ice hockey and soccer. In addition to the body gear, these two equipment serves to protect the wearer from blows and collisions. Without these protective gear, they may sustain concussion, contusion, bruises or cuts. Appropriate footwear is also required. This is especially important in basketball and soccer. Without a good pair of soccer shoes, the player cannot run properly on the wet grass as the shoes will provide traction on the playing field. A good pair of basketball shoes is also important, not just to make running to and fro inside the basketball court easy but to prevent the feet from getting blisters from the friction of the skin against the shoes.

You cannot expect to be free from injuries if you are wearing the appropriate gear for basketball, yet play on a dirt road makeshift court. It is expected that as you lay up the ball, there is that possibility of falling on the floor. Now, falling against a combination of dirt and stones may be a painful experience. It would be impossible for someone not to sustain any sort of injury from such situation.
