Prepare Eye Shadow so it Lasts
Edited by Hotelier, Amanda, Eng
Hello, and thank you for watching VisiHow. Today, I will show you how you can prepare your skin so that your eye shadow stays put all day and won't get stuck in the crease of the eyelids.
Steps
1
Get an eye shadow base or eye shadow primer
.
The one that we'll be using for this tutorial, which is our own personal favorite, is called Shadow Insurance by Too Faced. It's an anti-crease eye shadow primer. It is slightly oily, but for our own skin, it tends to do the best job.
2
Squeeze just a little bit from the tube onto a ring finger
.
As we can see, we really don't need very much product.
3
Touch one ring finger, with product, to the other ring finger
.
4
Swirl the fingertips together to split the product evenly between the two fingers
.
5
Begin to apply the primer all over the eyelid
.
Be gentle.
6
Apply a bit underneath as well
.
We do place a little bit of eyeliner and eye shadow sometimes underneath.
7
Make sure that we have even coverage and that there are no smudges or streaks left.
8
Repeat for the other eyelid
.
The primer does not have a color, so it will not show up. We like to blend it until it dries completely, since it is slightly oily. Now our eyes are prepared and we're ready to apply eye shadow directly on top.
9
For this tutorial, we will use a MAC eye shadow in the color All That Glitters, which is kind of a shimmery brown color.
10
Choose an eye shadow brush and apply a little bit of eye shadow to it
.
For this tutorial, we are using a brush by MAC, #242.
11
Using the brush, apply the eye shadow directly over the eye primer
.
12
Repeat on the other eyelid
.
13
This concludes today's tutorial on how to prepare your skin so that your eye shadow will last all day and you can avoid your eye shadow settling into the crease of your eyelids
.
