Sometimes an Android device just isn't working properly, and it needs to be reset. This can happen when the wrong apps have been installed, or an upgrade just didn't go the right way. Other times, you may have forgotten your password, and weren't able to get your Google Account Recovery working. Or, maybe you're just selling an old device and want to wipe it.

There are two ways to perform a Factory Reset of your Android phone or Tablet. The first method can be used when your device is booting normally, while the second method should be used for devices that aren't booting normally.

Use this to Factory Reset an Android device that boots normally.

Devices that are booting normally will allow you to select the device menu options to perform a Factory Reset, which is the easiest method.

In case your Android device is unable to boot normally, you can perform a Hard Reset by booting into a special recovery mode. This is more involved and can vary, depending on your device manufacturer.

When you reset your Android phone or Tablet, you will lose all data on the phone that has not been backed up, synced, or otherwise saved.

• Resetting your phone is a last resort option. Take a few minutes to figure out the root of the problem. It may be the Android system, a bad app you downloaded, or you may even need to fix a corrupted SD card.
• If your battery is draining more quickly than usual, you may want to reset your phone. Check your battery life by going into your Settings app and tapping the Battery panel. If it's an app, uninstall the app. If it's something in the system, you'll want to do a Factory Reset. Here are instructions for checking the battery on your Samsung Galaxy S4.
• Your battery should be at least 50% charged before you start this process, though we recommend a full charge before starting. You should also have your phone plugged into its charger.
• Before a Hard Reset, make sure your data is backed up. You can also use a paid app like MyBackup Pro to create a complete backup of your device, and then perform a Factory Reset.

My Karbonn A6 has a recovery error? How can I solve this?

Factory Hard Reset on HKC P886A-BL?

Available keys are Home and Power. I'm familiar with Android recoveries, reset, custom ROM and related subjects, however, I think I'm overlooking something quite simple here. I've tried the two key combos with no luck. Any other ideas besides ADB?

First, power the phone off. Next, try combinations of either Home+Power, Volume Up or Down+Power, or Volume Up+Home+Power. Hold each combination of buttons for 10-30 seconds to ensure it has time to boot the phone into recovery mode correctly. Now, use the volume keys to navigate the menu and find Factory Reset option. Select the Factory Reset option with the power key, and allow phone time to reload the OS.

If your device has a reset button on the outside of the device somewhere, press it. Some devices don't allow button combinations to be used during boot-up, which is why the reset button is there. If you don't have a reset button, though, you will need to take your device in for repairs since there is no way for you to Factory Reset your particular device.

To boot to the recovery menu, you have to press the correct combination of keys. Every manufacturer assigns a different combination of its products; try each of the following combinations on your device.

• Volume Up + Power
• Volume Down + Power
• Volume Up + Volume Down + Power
• Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power
• Volume Up + Home Button + Power
• Volume Down + Home Button + Power
• Home Button + Camera + Power
• Camera Button + Power

One of those combinations should put you into the recovery mode menu. When you see the Android logo or you feel a vibration, let go of the buttons and wait until the recovery mode menu shows on the screen.

How to unblock a barred outgoing calls and texts if I forgot password?

I can not make calls nor text cause my settings for call require password and I don't know it. I can receive calls but I can't make them..it says call barren all the time.
