Questions and Answers

My old landlord is suing my for back rent and paint and garbage after 3 months, I cannot pay, what should I do?

I have been evicted from my house 5 months ago, after 3 months I was gone and thought I was through with the landlord. She is now suing me for back rent which she stated in an email that she didn't want any payment plans prior to my eviction. I do not have a home for my family and I am living in a room with 2 children, I am stressed out. I have tried: We are going to court on Monday since she is suing me. I think it was caused by: I don't know, I thought with the email she sent, she didn't want anything to do with me but wanted me out.

Bring the email with you to court as evidence that the landlord stated she did not want any payment plan prior to eviction. It is worth noting, that she can counter that she wanted the payment in full instead of a payment plan. Also, the email is prior to the eviction notice. You should try to negotiate a payment plan if you are given a chance for mediation on Monday. The fact is, the judgment will likely be in the favor of the landlord.
