Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to mute and unmute a WhatsApp contact on an HTC One M8.

   To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

   Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

   To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

   Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom, we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

   We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

   There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

   Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the WhatsApp application

   There is a WhatsApp icon, which is a green speech bubble with a white telephone inside, and underneath it says "WhatsApp". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder. We want to demonstrate how to mute and unmute a WhatsApp contact.

   Choose a chat, then press down on it

   Tap on the menu icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen

   Tap on the first option, "View contact"

   Find the "Mute" option

   .

   We can see this option is currently deactivated, indicated by the gray switch on the right-hand side. We can mute a contact, which is not the same as blocking. If we block a contact we can't receive any messages from them. If we mute them, we still receive the messages but don't receive a notification about them.

   To turn this option on and mute somebody, press down on the switch and it will bring up a menu titled "Mute chat for..."

    Tap on the wanted period

    .

    The options are 8 Hours, 1 Week, and 1 Year. We can always turn this option off whenever we want, so if we choose 1 year, it will just automatically unmute after 1 year. We can turn this option off at any time. We're going to choose "1 Year". The green circle will then move to that option. We can also choose whether or not to show notifications. It will show notifications, but it will be mute with no sound.

    Press down on the check box to turn the option on or off

    If we do want notifications, we should make sure the box is green with a white checkmark.

    Press down on "OK" and the contact will be muted

    It will show the date that they muted until under "Mute".

Note3 ./.. can't hear messages, speaker works for other apps?

Messages won't play. I see a mute option for days, weeks and years but no options to UNMUTE this!
