Make sure that the Ball Head is tightened by turning the lock into the lock position

This means that it should be firm.

If you cannot attach the Ball Head owing to the knob being lowered, you can pull it towards you and turn

Lock the knob by pushing it

Once you have tightened the Ball Head, screw it onto the slider by turning the base of the Ball Head clockwise

Once the Ball Head is seated on the slider tightly, loosen the lock slightly

On the opposite side to the lock knob, there is a friction control knob for the top of the Ball Head

If you turn the friction knob all the way counterclockwise, it will be very easy to move the Ball Head around

Now, increase the friction by turning the friction control knob clockwise

You can still move the top of the Ball Head, but it becomes more difficult to do that

To completely lock the Ball Head, you need to tighten the lock mechanism all the way

You can pull the knob, turn, and push it back to tighten it more

The Ball Head will be completely locked down, so that there is no movement on the top of the Ball Head.

To remove the Quick Release Plate, pull both latches of the safety mechanism

The safety mechanism prevents accidental releases that may damage your camera. You will see that there is a second latch at the top of the first one.

Then, hold the bottom latch with one finger and pull the top latch all the way out

When this has been done, the Quick Release Plate will be released

You can install the Quick Release Plate onto your Canon camera by screwing the plate into the thread at the bottom. The threads on the plate show that there are two ways to mount it, depending on which way you want the camera lens to face.

When you decide which way you want the camera lens to face, tighten the plate in place with the ring

Then, turn the ring down so that it lies flat against the Quick Release Plate

To mount the camera on top of the Ball Head in this position, slide it on so that the long side is facing the latch

You will notice that there is a long side, as well as a short side on the Quick Release Plate. Make sure that the long side is toward the latch and push down until the Quick Release Plate snaps into place.

To remove the camera, hold the camera with one hand

Pull the safety latches as described in steps 15-16 in order to circumvent the safety mechanism
