To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on the right-hand side

This will reveal the lock screen.

Swipe the lock screen up to unlock the phone

Find and tap the "Vine" tile
.
My Vine tile is located at the bottom of the home screen. The tile alternates between Vine images and a turquoise tile that says "Vine". If you don't have the Vine tile pinned to your home screen, swipe left to find it in the apps menu.

Once the application is loaded, it's going to start playing a Vine; tap on the screen to stop it

Tap the grey circle to the right of the first option, "Posts are protected", to protect your posts

If you only like uploading and sharing your Vines with your friends and family, and you don't like random people seeing or commenting on your Vines, select this option. Tap "protect" on the prompt that appears at the top of the screen. It says, "You're about to protect your posts. Only your followers will be able to view your posts".
