Hello and welcome to VisiHow. This is a tutorial on how to mark a WhatsApp chat as read or unread on an HTC One M8.

   To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the power button located on top of the phone

   .

   Once the phone has been activated we will see the lock screen.

   To unlock the phone, swipe the screen up

   Once the phone has been unlocked we will see the home screen, and at the bottom we will see 5 icons. We now need to open the application folder.

   We can do that by tapping the icon in the middle, at the bottom of the screen

   There is a grid of white dots. This is the icon for the applications folder.

   Now that the folder has been opened, we need to find and tap the WhatsApp application

   .

   There is a WhatsApp icon, which is a green speech bubble with a white telephone inside, and underneath it says "WhatsApp". Your application may be in a different location, so look for the icon in your folder. We want to demonstrate how to mark a chat unread or read.

   Choose a chat, then press down and hold down until a menu appears

   There will now be a green circle, indicating that this chat is unread. It's highlighting the chat as unread so that we can come back to this chat another time. It's highlighted, we know it's important, and when we come back to WhatsApp the chat will catch our attention.
