Manage Mobile Data on a Samsung Galaxy S8
Edited by Jay
All modern smartphones are pretty reliant on the internet to maximize their potential and make use of the device's features. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are two of the most advanced phones available on the market today. They offer users exceptional control over network connectivity for; WiFi, Mobile data, and Bluetooth connections.
Pretty much all major carriers that offer or support the Galaxy S8/S8+ ensure that a data plan is required to use the device on their network. This is important because without any data the device would only be able to connect to the internet when WiFi is available. That said, not all data plans are created equal. If you're on a limited plan, watching your data usage is extremely important. Some carriers can charge quite a lot when their customers surpass their mobile data limit.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ allows users to not only monitor their mobile and WiFi data but also set warnings and limits. There is also a feature called Data Saver, which allows users to choose which apps send and receive data in the background.
In the following tutorial, we'll go through each option inside the Mobile data section, on a Samsung Galaxy S8, running Android Nougat.
Enable Mobile Data, Mobile Data Usage, Billing Cycle and Data Warning
- 6Once on the app's DATA USAGE screen, you'll see how much data has been used in total, in the foreground, and in the background, for the current billing period. To change the period, tap the drop-down triangle.
