Manage a Contact Group on Samsung Galaxy Note3

Contact groups allow you to categorize contacts into groups. You can also, quickly and easily, send multiple SMS and emails to all or chosen contacts in the group. This section will discuss how to create, edit and manage contact groups.

Create a New Group

By default, your phone has preset groups you can add your contacts to. If your desired group is not on the preset list, you can create a new group by following the procedures below:

    1. Tap on the home button once.
    2. Tap on the Back key a few times until you get to the home screen.

    Tap on "Menu" and choose "Create"
    .
    From the Groups tab, you will see a list of available groups on your Galaxy Note3. To create a new group, you need to tap on the Menu key (lower-left soft key) once to view a list of available options. From the list of options, tap on Create to start creating your own group.

    Name the group

    Using the on-screen keyboard, enter the desired name for the group you will be creating. Tap on "Save" to save the name of the group and go back to the group page.

    Choose a ringtone for the group
    .
    Tap on the Group ringtone tab to choose from the list of available ringtones. You can also Add a music file from your device as a ringtone. Tap on "OK" to set the chosen ringtone and go back to the Group page.

    Choose a message alert for the group

    Tap on the "Message Alert" tab to choose from the list of available message alert on your Galaxy Note3. Tap on "OK" to set the chosen message alert and go back to the Group page.

    Choose a vibration pattern for the group
    .
    Tap on the "Vibration Pattern" tab to choose from the list of vibration patterns for your device. You can also make your own vibration pattern by tapping on the Create button. Tap on "OK" to set the chosen vibration pattern and go back to the Group page.

    Add members to the group

    Tap on the "Add Member" tab to add a contact to the group. You can add multiple members by marking the boxes to the left of the contacts. Tap on "Done" to go back to the Group page.

Adding a Contact to an Existing Group

You can follow the procedures in this section to add a contact to an existing group:

Removing a Contact from an Existing Group on Samsung Galaxy Note3

You can remove a contact from an existing group by following the procedures below:

    View the available options of the Group by tapping on the Menu button (lower-left soft key) and tapping on Remove Member.

    Choose the contact or contacts you want to remove

    From the list of contacts that are part of the group, tap on the square button to their right to mark them as one of the contacts to be removed.

    Tap on Done

    When you have ticked on the contacts that you want to erase from the list, tap on Done to remove them from the group.

    The contact will be removed from the group

    After tapping on "Done", you will be taken back to the group page. You will now notice that the selected contacts you wanted to delete, are not in the list anymore.

Sending an SMS and Email to Members of a Group

You can utilize the group feature to quickly send an SMS and email to all or some chosen members of a group. To do that, simply follow the procedures below:

    Choose what data to delete

    You will be given the choice to delete the group completely, or include the group members from being deleted. If you choose the latter one, all contacts in the selected group will be deleted from your Galaxy Note3.

How do I share group list with another Note3?

I need to share the groups that I created on my device with another Note2

On your device you will not have the opportunity to in fact send your whole group to another device. The only way that you are able to share a contact is by using the options that I will place below in order to help you to be able to send out your group information to another device:

1. Go to your contacts list.

2. Long press over a contact.

3. You will see the option to send contact information.

4. Also you will see the option to share via which will allow you to share the contact through Bluetooth, email, Drive or any other application on your device.

Editing group names on Galaxy Note3?

I was trying to edit (and or) delete some of the default group names. Can this be done

I have changed my group names a couple of times from what the device has created for my devices contacts. I will in fact be helping you with the changing of your group name. Follow my steps below so that I will be able to help you with the changing of your devices name:

-Go to contacts.

-Go to the group tab.

-Locate the name of the group you want to change.

-Long press over the group.

-Select the option in the pop up to edit group.

-After tapping on edit group you will be taken to the edit page.

-Simple change the name of the group to what you desire.

-From here select the option done .

After this check your group list to be able to see the new name that has been assigned to that group on your device. The only group that cannot be changed is the "not assigned" group that the device has made.

Problems with group messaging on Samsung Note3?

I send a group message out. Three people have iPhones and two have Samsung androids ( Galaxy 5 and Note2). When they answer the only ones who appear in the group are the iPhone users. The Android users come in separately. I find this odd as I have a Note3. My service is sprint and they are not helping

Using Exchange 365, Outlook 2007, Note5?

Using Exchange 365, Outlook 2007, Windows 10 Galaxy Note5 In Outlook 2007 groups are known as "Categories". Device syncs other groups in other folders but not a particular folder with a particular category. Tried creating a group on device but device says that group/category is already present. Q. How can I force the device to accept a particular folder and particular group/category? By the way I am trying to get the phone to ignore all other folders/groups/categories. I had to clear all the categories from all other folders in Outlook 2007 in order to keep the device from loading all folders and all groups/categories

I can't sync my Note3 with Gmail and I'm thinking its because of the groups are not of the same structure, but I have trouble deleting groups in my Note3, the options delete does not exist. I have tried: Remove Gmail account and reinstall again, but still does not work. I think it was caused by: Maybe the contacts are not synced
