Make the Perfect Moon Sand
Edited by Doug Collins, Eng, Inukshuk
I would like to thank Brooke from "What's Up Moms", for the awesome video on how to make a DIY Moon Sand " perfect recipe". I organized it into a wiki for anyone with a hearing impairment, or for those who just prefer to read the steps. Hope you enjoy it. :)
Steps
1
Since Lincoln started the preschool his level of curiosity in wanting to be involved in things around the house is sky rocket.
2
So I 've been trying to find a class in DIY's that he can actually participate in
.
3
Our current favorite is this DIY cloud Dough or Moon Sand
.
4
It's so fun to make and even, more fun to play with
.
5
I'm Brooke and I am passion about making beautiful things for my family on a budget
.
6
here is what you're going to need to get started
.
7
8
9
10
Food coloring or soap coloring is optional
.
11
First, we're going to pour one cup of corn starch into our mixing bowl
.
12
Next, we're going to add about an eighth of a cup of liquid detergent
.
13
Now, this ingredient was not in the list of recipes that I read, but I found that it makes the Dough a lot less sticky
.
14
Finally, Lincoln's favorite part, we 're going to add the shaving cream
.
15
It's about one to one ratio with the corn starch, but the shaving cream is really hard to measure in a cup, so I just going to eyeball it
.
16
Now, we're ready to mix our ingredients
.
17
Continue whisking until it gets denser and is almost the texture of sand
.
18
Now it would be a good time to add your coloring of you want a colored Dough, but I love the icy blue tent the detergent creates, so I am going to leave mine like this
.
19
Once you can pick it up and form a solid that doesn't crumble apart, your Dough is complete
.
20
I just love the texture of this, it's not quite like play dough and it's not quite sand
.
21
I recommend storing them in an airtight container so it doesn't dry out
.
22
This patch is ready for play time
.
23
I like to put them in one of these sentry bins so it doesn't make a mess
.
24
But you can also just play with it right on the table
.
25
You can even spread it up in a smaller portion, and make a rainbow dough
.
26
It also makes a really cute party gift if you combine it with some excavation tools and treasures to bury
.
27
Alright, guys I hope you give this a try, I'm sure you will have so much fun
.
Tell me in the comments below if there is any DIY that you want to see. Thanks so much for watching and I'll see you next Friday. Bye guys.
