Make Your Instagram Profile Private on iPhone 6

Hello. You are watching VisiHow, and in this video I will show you how to make your Instagram profile private while using the iPhone 6. In other words, we will close our Instagram profile from viewers that are not your followers.

Steps

I'm going to open the Social folder, which is where I have the Instagram application

The Instagram icon looks like a camera, so tap to open it

Let me show you an example of public and private profiles

This one is a perfect example of a profile that is open to the public.

When you open the user's profile, you can look at all of the pictures

You can open any of the photos and leave comments, as well as read other comments

I don't see any closed profiles, but with a closed profile, or a profile that has been made private, when you open that profile, you will not be able to see any pictures

You can send a request to that person to see their profile
.
As soon as they approve you to be their follower, you will be able to see all of the photos, comment on them, and add any likes. Let's go to my profile by tapping on the person icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.

My profile is currently open, so anyone interested can view it

To make my profile private, I'm going to first tap on the gear icon at the top right corner of the screen

This will open up the Options screen.

Toward the middle of the screen in Options, you will see Account
.
A bit further down on that list is Private Account.

Tap on the switch just across from Private account on the right-hand side of the screen

This will make my profile private. Now, only people that I approve can see my photos and videos, like my photos and videos, and leave their comments.

My current followers are not going to be affected by this change, but the new ones will have to be approved
.
If you want to make your profile open to the public again, all you have to do is tap on the switch next to private account again.

A message will pop up confirming that you want to change your privacy

Tap on OK to confirm that you do want to make your profile open.
