Make Lalaloopsy Clothes

Edited by Vanessa Alexandra Avisado, Nerissa Avisado, Robbi, Eng and 3 others

The Lalaloopsy dolls are a line of doll toys launched by MGA Entertainment on July 19, 2010. Originally called Bitty Buttons, the set featured eight 12-inch rag dolls with the tag line "Sew magical - Sew cute". Shortly, the dolls became Lalaloopsy, each one carrying a unique personality based on the day she/he is born, the dress she/he wears, and the pet she/he cares for.

Generally, the dolls promote the idea that old things can be given a new purpose and nothing must be wasted, encouraging kids and adults to be imaginative and resourceful. With the special lesson that Lalaloopsy dolls teach, you can and should give old fabrics a new lease on life and use them to make Lalaloopsy clothes. Give your doll collection a creative line of clothing to wear.

Some people may actually be afraid of Lalaloopsys because of their uncanny resemblance to the Coraline evil characters. It doesn't change the fact that Lalaloopsys are a very sought after collector's items. They are probably the most suitable dolls for children because of the individual character theme they portray. Each doll has a fun story to tell and an important lesson on repurposing old things to give them a second chance. Lalaloopsy dolls are indeed very sweet girls and boys who love to eat, play, and help each other. The dolls are devoid of heavy make-up, do not flirt or gossip, and made of robust, durable plastic.

Lalaloopsys are extremely floppy and loose. The head and limbs have been designed in wobbly rag doll fashion. It's the wobbly heaviness people come to love since this makes them sturdy enough to survive being tossed around by children. The Lalas' bodies, outfits and shoes can be interchanged to swap their personalities. It must be noted that Lalaloopsys have very large waists so it's unlikely that other doll clothes will fit them. If you want them to wear new clothes, you'll have to get the exact measurements or make Lalaloopsy clothes with your own two hands, using materials you've long consigned to storage.

Choosing to tackle the job, you must first meet the characters and know their unique personalities to get an idea for how to create new clothes for them. At present the list includes 56 large and 19 little Lalaloopsy dolls. Each of the big dolls has a pet under their care, while their little sisters and brothers have either a pet or particular food favorite. MGA continues to add more characters to the popular toy line, described as "the hottest toy" and "Google's Hottest Holiday Internet Searches" since 2010.
