Make Custom Characters in SoulCalibur V
Edited by Lukward Thomason, Colette Cole, Eng, Sean Zylow
Hi you are watching VisiHow and this is a tutorial on how to create custom characters in Soul Calibur V in the PlayStation 3.
Steps
1
To begin, press the start button
.
2
Now you're in the main menu
.
From here, you need to go to "Creation". To go to that option, scroll down and press the "x" button on your controller once you've selected that option.
3
As you can see, I have created several custom characters
.
In your case, this is going to be empty.
4
The cards here will be empty, which can be seen right here in this screen showing right now
.
5
There are several blank cards here
.
In order to create a custom character, you need to press "x" on your controller, on any of these new cards. When you select and press "x", you will see 2 options. You can create a regular character or an original one.
6
The difference between the 2 options is that if you choose a regular character, then you are not free to modify everything
.
There will be some limitations, depending on the character you choose, but in the original character creator, you are free to use any tool and any equipment that you currently have unlocked. I'll just go ahead and press "x" on the control pad after selecting the original character option.
7
Now you have the option to choose the soul of the warrior, which gives your character the ability to use its weapons, moves list, and so on
.
It doesn't really matter what you choose here because this is editable later on.
8
You can either choose a male character or a female character.
9
I'll go ahead and choose male since my voice is male
.
10
Now you have the option to choose the height
.
Please note that the strength of the character depends on the height and body build. I will go ahead and create a normal height character.
11
The next window will show you 2 options
.
You can choose a normal body type or a more built body type. I'll go ahead and choose the normal body type.
12
Now you will be in the main window of the editor, called the "Creation Home"
.
From here you can change various features of the body, equipment, weapons, tiles, colors and so on.
13
I will start with the body
.
Select "body".
14
The options are height, face, hair, eyebrows and voice
.
I'll go ahead and choose height.
15
In the next window, you can choose height, base body type, the size of the arms, forearms, pectorals, hips, thighs, calves, stomach, waist, and muscle mass
.
I will set mine as shown on the screen. You can go ahead and choose your preference. Then press the circle to go back.
16
The next thing in the face
.
If you select it, a new window will open and give a selection of faces and then you will be able to go ahead and choose whichever one you like. I will leave it on face number 22.
17
Select the hair by pressing the "x" button. A new window will then open.
18
You can choose between the various hair styles for your character
.
Of course, this depends on your preference. Don't worry about the colors. They can easily be changed later on. Please note that several new features of the face, the hair, equipment, and so on, will be unlocked later on as you progress through the game and gain levels. Let's go ahead and choose the hair.
19
Then we will go to the eyebrows and choose the type of eyebrows you wish for your character
.
20
The first thing that you may notice here is the voice type
.
Just go ahead and choose the voice type that you find more appealing than any other.
21
You can choose the pitch of the voice
.
You can raise it or you can lower it.
22
The same goes here. You can either raise it or lower it.
23
The next one is malfestation level
.
24
If there is no malfestation, you will hear the voice as you have chosen, but if you choose another malfestation level, then the voice changes a little
.
25
I will go ahead and choose this
.
Press the circle.
26
Then press the circle again to go back to the previous menu
.
27
If you feel that the body is already set, go to the equipment
.
Choose "x" on the equipment option and a new window will open.
28
By pressing "x" on the first section, you have several options
.
It's either random, you can remove everything or choose from the preset equipment.
29
If you choose from the samurai, you will have a samurai
.
30
There is also a ninja option, and so on
.
31
I will just go ahead and remove everything
.
32
The first part of the actual editing is "hat equipment"
.
33
Choose that option and then you can select anything that you like from here
.
34
As I have already noted, several new pieces of equipment will be unlocked as I progress through the game, so please bear in mind that not everything that you can see here will appear on your screen
.
Just go ahead and press "x" on anything that you like.
35
The next thing is facial equipment
.
36
As you can see there are several eyepatches, sunglasses, masks and so on
.
37
The same goes with the other pieces of equipment shown
.
You can just go on and select the things you like.
38
Please note that not everything is compatible with every other piece of equipment
.
For example, if your character is wearing things like a long coat, and then you go to an upper body coverings section and select anything that will cover your body twice, like choosing anything similar to that, like a long leather coat, you cannot put a similar item on top of that.
39
If something like that occurs where conflicting equipment is chosen, the screen will display a message saying that the equipment conflicts with something already in use
.
40
If you choose to remove the conflicting equipment, then it will be replaced
.
So go ahead and change anything that you need to change and that's pretty much it.
41
The last 3 sections of the editor are specialised equipment
.
You can set up 3 pieces of special equipment to your character. For example, we can adjust this bolt to his head.
42
If you press "x" again while you have already selected the equipment, then you have a choice of either changing the equipment or adjusting the equipment
.
43
If you go to adjust the equipment, you can change the equipped location
.
44
As you can see, I'm changing the location right now using my arrow buttons on the controller
.
45
I will put it on the chest
.
46
Since this character is 3 dimensional, you can choose to equip this item in 3 dimensions
.
If you move the horizontal line, you can see this bolt is moving on the horizontal line.
47
Now if you change anything on the vertical line, you will see it go up or down, and so on
.
48
If you change this, you can see it will either go back or forth.
49
If you change the width of the item. You can change the width of the item as you choose.
50
Following that is length
.
It is the same thing here. The length will adjust as you choose.
51
Basically, the same idea applies.
52
These are 3-dimensional size and proportions
.
53
The next step is the rotation
.
As you can see I am now rotating this vertically and the piece is moving with it.
54
Now we will move it horizontally
.
55
The last step is the angle
.
56
If you feel that you are happy with the current location and the size of the equipment, you can press the circle button on your controller and go back
.
57
Once more press the circle, and you're back to the main menu again
.
58
If you press the "x" on the weapon and styles section, you will be brought to the next menu
.
From here, you can change the weapons and the styles.
59
The first section gives you an opportunity to choose between the weapons and styles of the preset exiting characters
60
As you can see, there is Patroklilis here
.
If you select it, then you can change to any other existing character.
61
Only the existing characters can be chosen
.
Not your creations. I will go ahead and choose Yoshimitsu.
62
As you may have already noticed, the weapon and the stance of the character has changed
.
His moves lists are the same as Yoshimitsu.
63
On the next section, you can change the sword or any other weapon
.
64
I'll go ahead and choose The Master
.
65
It has now changed and now the last part here is custom effect when landing an attack
.
66
Press it and choose from anything that you have unlocked already
.
67
Press the circle once more and you will get back to the main menu
.
68
From here, you can change colors, patterns and stickers
.
Select that option and you will be brought to the next section. Bear in mind that there are 4 main sections in the colors and stickers and you can navigate through them using your L1 or R1 buttons.
69
The first section is the body color
.
70
It gives you the ability to change patterns on the skin
.
71
So we can make this character green like Hulk
.
72
Then you can change the color of his pants
.
I'll make it purple.
73
Next is the hair section
.
74
You can choose to dye his hair
.
75
Next is the makeup choices, but since my character is wearing a mask, we can't actually see it
.
76
You can go ahead and choose any makeup that you feel that you like and then you can change the colors of the mask
.
You can also change the makeup, sizes, angles and so on, depending on your preference.
77
There is also facial hair if your character has some. Mine does not have any.
78
Then you can customize the color of the eyes
.
This is the same process as before using the R1 and L1 to change the level of the color and using your arrows you can navigate to any color that you like.
79
The next section is equipment
.
You can change any patterns on any of the equipment your character is currently wearing. For example, I will go ahead and change the color of the coat or apply new patterns there.
80
As you can see I have applied a new pattern and from the next section, I can edit the colors of the pattern
.
81
Then you can change the size and angle of the pattern
.
I am just making all of this as random as possible. .
82
You can flip the pattern horizontally or vertically, or why not both
?
83
84
The next part is the stickers
.
You can choose where to put the stickers. For example, I'll go ahead and put a sticker on his T-shirt.
85
So I can go ahead and choose any sticker that is displayed here
.
Then I will have 2 options. I can either place it by view or place it by axis.
86
The easier one is placing it by view, but the more accurate one is placing by axis
.
I'll go ahead and place it by axis.
87
The next section is the colors
.
You can change it freely to any color that you desire.
88
The following section is the location
.
We have selected upper body here, but you can choose left arm, right arm, left leg, or right leg.
89
I'll go ahead and choose upper body
.
90
The next choice is the application method
.
This is the first thing that the editor asked us. It asked if we wanted to place it by axis or by view. I will leave it like that.
91
Then you can move it vertically or horizontally
.
92
93
94
You can flip it and so on
.
95
Once that you feel that you are ready, just press the circle button on your controller again and you'll be back wearing the same sticker
.
96
The last part is the color of your weapons and the swing weapon trail
.
97
Now Yoshimitsu's weapon, particularly this weapon that we have previously chosen, has no editable color patterns so, we can't change anything here but we can change the weapon trail color
.
If he swings his sword, then that will be the color that will be displayed.
98
Press the circle button on your controller once more, and you will be back to the main menu
.
99
Now you can shoot the picture
.
To shoot the picture, you first need to choose the pose of the character. You will see there are several different poses.
100
I will just choose this one shown on the screen
.
101
You can then change backgrounds
.
As you can see there is a preview on the upper right corner of the screen.
102
I'll go ahead and choose one
.
These ones shown are the back frames, which are the ones that are in the background of the character.
103
The next is the front frame
.
104
It will be displayed in the foreground
.
105
Lastly, just adjust the camera angle as you see fit and press "shoot picture"
.
106
You have shot the picture now, so now go back using the circle button on your controller again.
107
Now you will just input the name of the character
.
108
I will change it from "Custom 26" to "VisiHow Guy"
.
109
You will see the name is there.
110
Choose "Finish Edit", by pressing the "x" on your controller and then choose the data slot selection and that's it
!
The new character has been created.
111
This concludes our tutorial on creating your custom character in Soul Caliber V on PlayStation 3
