Hello, and welcome to VisiHow. This video is going to show you how to lock a message, to prevent it being deleted on a HTC One M8. To begin, turn the phone on. We can do this by pressing the Power button located on the top right-hand side of the phone.

Steps

    Now we need to unlock the device
    .
    Pressing the Power button activated the phone, bringing us to the Lock screen. To unlock the device, we will press down on the screen, and swipe upwards. While pressing down, two white lock icons will appear. We will then be taken to the Home screen.

    Here we will press down on the Messages icon to open our Messages
    .
    This icon is in the bottom, left side of the screen. It is represented by a white textbox with three, green, horizontal lines in the center.

    Select a message thread
    .
    We can do this by pressing down on one of the threads under the title 'All messages'. In this video we want to learn how to lock a message, which means we will need to find a message to lock. Locking a message will prevent it from being deleted, even if you accidentally delete the message thread.

    Once the thread is open, press down on the message we would like to lock
    .
    This will then bring up our 'Message options'.

    Tap the option labeled as 'Lock message'

    This option is written in black, it is the fifth option on the list.

    The message will now show a padlock, confirming that it is locked

    This padlock is gray, and will be featured on the lower, right-hand corner of the locked message.

    To unlock this message, press down on the message again to open the 'Message options'

    If you want to unlock this message, press down on the message to bring up the options.

    This confirms the message is unlocked, and will be deleted if the message thread is deleted.
