Hello, welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to set a PIN code to lock the SIM card on an HTC One M8.

To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button

This button is located on top of the device.

Once the phone has been activated, we will see the Lock screen

To unlock the phone, press down on the screen and swipe upwards

Once the phone has been unlocked, we will see the Home screen

At the bottom, we will see a row of five various icons. What we need to do now, is find the Settings menu. To do this, we need to swipe the Notification panel down.

To bring down the Notification panel, press down at the very top of the screen and swipe downwards

Now we can see that the Notification has appeared

We are now looking for the white cog icon, located in the top right-hand corner. This is our Settings icon.

Press down on the Settings icon one time, this will open up our Settings menu

We can see it says the word "Settings" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

Now we need to scroll down until we have located the "PERSONAL" section

We will see it says the word "PERSONAL" inside of a gray bar.

In this section, we are looking for the option labeled "Security"

To the left of this word, there will be a gray padlock icon.

Press down on this option one time, this will open up the Security menu

We now want the third option down, labeled "Set up SIM 1 card lock"
.
Underneath of this title, it will say "Set a PIN code to lock your SIM 1 card". As we are aware, the HTC One M8 has dual SIM capabilities.

As we can see right below this option, it will read "Set up SIM 2 card lock"

The procedures that we are going to show will work for either of these options, for SIM card 1 and 2. Make sure to choose the right SIM that we want to use at this moment.

Press down on the SIM card you would like to add a card lock to, in our case we will press down on the option for SIM card 1
.
This is because we currently only have one SIM card inserted in our HTC One M8.

This will take us to a new menu, labeled "SIM card lock settings" in the top left-hand corner

Here we have the option to "Lock SIM card"
.
Underneath it will read "Require PIN to use phone". We are going to need the PIN number that has come with the SIM card. When we bought the phone, including the SIM card with it, it will have came with a PIN number. Make sure the PIN number is on hand before continuing.

Now we are going to press down on the empty box, this is to the right of the "Lock SIM card" text
.
The box being empty lets us know that this option is not activated.

This will bring up a box, asking us to enter the PIN number for our SIM card

Now is the time to enter the PIN code we previously mentioned, using the keypad which previously appeared on the screen

This PIN code will likely be four digits long.

Once the PIN code has been entered, press down on "OK"
.
This is the option to the right, underneath of the text box we have just entered our PIN code into.

We can now see that the PIN number has been enabled

We can tell by looking at the empty box we previously tapped on. It will now be green, with a white checkmark inside. Now, when we want to use the phone, it will ask us to insert the PIN number we have just entered.
