Hello and welcome to VisiHow. In this video, we are going to show you how to leave a review for a hotel, restaurant, or attraction when using the TripAdvisor application on a Microsoft Lumia 535.
To begin, turn the phone on by pressing the Power button located on the right-hand side of the phone.
Once the phone is activated, we'll see the Lock screen.
Swipe the Lock screen up, and this will take us to the Home screen.
On the Home screen, we need to find the TripAdvisor tile. It has a green background, and in the middle there is the TripAdvisor logo, which is a hypnotic owl with two large eyes, one red and one green. If the TripAdvisor tile has not been pinned to the Home screen, then swipe left to find it in the Apps menu.
Once TripAdvisor has been located, press down on it, and this will allow us to enter the application.
Once the application has loaded, we need to find a hotel, or an attraction, or a restaurant. We can press one of the squares on the screen to find a place.
At the top of this screen, it says "explore" in black text. It doesn't matter how we enter any of these categories.
For now, let's press down on the "HOTELS" square at the top left. It has an image of a bed on it.
Choose a location by typing it in. We'll just use our current location, which is entered automatically. Then we're going to press the enter button, which is the arrow in the white square at the bottom right corner of the screen.
It is going to find hotels in our current location.
We're going to choose the first hotel on the list by pressing down on the name.
Then we'll enter their page.
We want the third icon at the bottom of the screen. It is a green circle, and inside that is a green speech square with a white plus sign in the middle. This icon will appear on every single page, whether it is a page for a restaurant, a page for an attraction, or for a hotel. Once we've entered that page, we'll see this icon at the bottom.
Press down on the third icon, and this is going to allow us to leave a review.
At the top, we can choose a date by pressing down on the text bar.
Now, choose a date by scrolling through the month, date, and year.
Once happy with the date, press the white check in the white circle at the bottom of the screen.
Next is "Overall Rating", and there are five empty green circles. Pressing down on these circles will fill them with other green circles. Five circles is obviously very, very good. Zero is very bad.
Choose a rating by pressing down on the highest circle desired. Press down on the fifth circle to make the rating five circles. This will fill the circles with other green circles, adding a very positive review.
Then we can add a title to the review by pressing on the box under "Title of your review". This will bring up the keyboard.
For this demonstration, we'll just type in "good".
We're going to press away from the text box to get rid of the keyboard.
Then we have the main review section. This is where we'll explain why we've given the rating that we have. We can include what we liked about it, what we didn't like about it, and any problems we might have had. We can mention the staff. Did they go the extra mile to help us, or were they rude? We can add details about the quality of the room. Was it clean, and how clean was it? Was the location convenient, or was it busy and loud? Was the street loud? Did we sleep well or badly? We can add any of these little features by pressing down in the big box under "Your Review".
Then use the keyboard to type in the review.
Then just press on the screen away from the text box to drop the keyboard down.
Now, we have a message at the bottom that reads, "I certify that this review is based on my own experience and is my genuine opinion of this establishment, and that I have no personal or business relationship with this establishment and have not been offered any incentive or payment originating from the establishment to write this review." We have to certify that this is a real, live review, and we're not getting paid to do this.
Press down on the checkbox at the top left side of the message to add a check to the box.
Next, press on the first icon at the bottom of the screen. It is a green circle with a green checkmark inside it. This will confirm our review and allow us to send it.
On this example, a message appears saying we can't send it because "Reviews must be at least 200 characters." We haven't written any words, but we're not going to waste time on this video to type in 200 characters.
If this message does appear, just press "OK", then go back into the review section and make sure there are at least 200 characters. Once that is done, press the checkmark, and this will publish the review.
This concludes our tutorial on how to leave a review of a hotel, restaurant, or attraction when using the TripAdvisor application on a Microsoft Lumia 535. If you have any questions or comments about this video, or about the application itself, then please leave them in the comment section below, and we shall answer them for you. Thank you for watching VisiHow and goodbye.
