Edited by Grimm, Margiebell, Dougie, Jen M
Hello and welcome to the VisiHow Android language tutorial. Today, we are going to be showing you how to install a free application on your Android smartphone that will teach you how to speak, read, and write the Georgian Language. To start with, let's press the power button on our phone; the lock button.
Steps
1
That's going to open us up to our locked screen
.
Just swipe down, do your pattern, or your PIN, whatever it is you have and use to get into your system normally.
2
Now, next, we're going to tap on the Google Play Store
.
3
If you don't have your icon here on your desktop like I do, then you can simply tap the apps button
.
One tap on the apps button is going to open up your applications folder.
4
You are going to look through here until you find the same white briefcase icon with a little-colored triangle
.
That's for the Google Play Store. We are going to tap that one time.
5
Tapping this is going to open up your Google Play Store
.
6
We are just going to click on the search button up here
.
7
And we are going to type in Georgian Language
.
Georgian Language, there we go.
8
OK, so under the Georgian Language, we have a few applications here
.
Learn Georgian Language, and LauncherEX. We're going to go for more.
9
Here we are, we want the 50 Languages application
.
This one is very highly rated by a number of people. There are other bits and pieces of programs as well, however, in my experience this is a very good program. And that is why we are going to be following this. Tap it one time.
10
It's going to open up the application, and you are going to tap the install button
.
Wait for it to install. Once it installs, your screen is going to change and is going to look like mine, where you have this green open button here.
11
So when you've reached that point, what we'll do next is tap the open button
.
12
You'll also have the application in your apps folder, and a short code will be created on your desktop
.
I speak American English.
13
Now we are going to tap save language
.
14
Once you've saved that, it's going to tell you that this information has been saved on your language selection
.
Just tap OK.
15
Now, you can choose to buy the book, you can download audios, you can use the language and cultural quiz, you have a vocabulary option, a vocabulary game, numbers 1 to 100, and a phrase book.
16
So for example, I'm just going to scroll down a bit to places of interest, translation, I will probably stick with Google translate; you can create a study plan, numbers, scores
.
17
What we are going to do is we're going to start off with a phrase book
.
18
Let's take a word list, for example
.
19
So, the free app comes with 30 lessons
.
The paid app comes with 100 lessons. Do we want to upgrade? The answer is not now.
20
Later, we might upgrade, OK
?
So here are our lessons. Each one is locked or unlocked.
21
We will go ahead and start with people
.
22
It's going to pull up the information for that. And now, we have the numbers, and the meaning of each of these things. So if we press on play, you'll hear that it says the Georgian Language for the number 1. Male and female.
23
Now we'll move down to the next word, which is kind of hard
.
We'll skip that one, because I do not know how to say that. We are going to go to this one.
24
It means "I". So, you can just scroll down this list here and you see each one. "He", OK. You can go down the entire list, and see how each of these letters is spelled out. You can tap on the menu here.
25
You can choose the lesson
.
And you can go to a different lesson.
26
And you can choose numbers 0 to 100.
27
Learn numbers, reading comprehension, listening comprehension
.
28
So if you want to learn the numbers, you can tap the same as before
.
1, 2 and 3.
29
All the way down until you get into the big numbers
.
Now one thing that is interesting, the Georgian language is a little bit different than other languages in that they don't actually go one through one hundred. For example, 40. 40 is similar to 50 in that 50 means 40 plus 10.
30
So as you are learning the Georgian language, and you are moving through the keyboard, pay attention to things like this because while you will learn to speak
.
There are quite a few little phrases and colloquialisms that are unique and specific to the language, that you might not always get. Vocabulary in a program, we will download that later. For your purposes though, you can go and download it.
31
32
And its going to give you the information on the download speed
.
33
Now, as I was saying, as you are practicing this, it is important to understand that the Georgian language is an extremely old language
.
It is dated from the ancient language that Jesus Christ spoke. Ancient Aramaic, it's very, very old. The letters are somewhat unique in many of the alphabets out there in modern times, especially the English alphabet, in that each letter only makes one sound, and there are no real capital or lower case letters in the way we have them traditionally in English.
34
So feelings, animals, sports, music, office and beverages
.
We're in the office, let's go for the office.
35
36
So this will tell you, this is a ball pen.
37
38
And these are colouring pencils
.
39
So, as you can see, both culturally and technically, things are a little different in Georgia than they are in America
.
However, this application is a great way to get started learning the language. You can get more help and tips with languages, specifically the Georgian language or any other language you want. In this set of questions and answers we would tend to lean towards the Georgian language. Just let us know, with comments, you can leave a remark. If you've got your own ideas or suggestions, we would love to hear them. If you want to make your own video, that's great, too. Just let one of us know. Thanks for choosing VisiHow, have a great day, and we will see you soon.
