Keep the Hair Shiny and Healthy

The hair is often considered to be a lady's crowning glory, so it is just right to give it good care and attention. The overall health of the hair starts from the inside. One indication that your hair is healthy is its gloss. Shiny hair is healthy hair, and it starts with a proper diet. Besides a proper diet, there are some other ways one can keep the hair shiny and healthy.
Steps on How To Keep Your Crowning Glory Shiny and Healthy
Your hair is what you eat
This is actually so true. So if you notice that your hair is getting dry despite using expensive hair care products, it is high time to look at your diet. Some food that are good in promoting hair health are salmon, poultry products, lentils, sweet potatoes, walnuts, spinach, oysters, Greek yogurt, eggs and blueberries.
Wash the Hair Only When Needed
Everyday washing can strip off the natural oil that keeps the hair shiny. Unless you indulge in dirty jobs or have a very active lifestyle, DO NOT wash everyday. Two to three showers a day is definitely too much for the hair. If you really need to take a shower, then spare your hair if you want to keep it shiny.
Who says that mayo is only perfect for our salads and dressings? It is also a good natural remedy for keeping a healthy and shiny hair. Massage mayonnaise into your scalp and hair and leave it for 5-7 minutes. Rinse it with your favorite shampoo and conditioner as usual.
Lessen Your Salon Visits
There is nothing wrong with giving yourself a little pampering for your hair, but don't overdo it. Frequent chemical treatments like perming and dying can make the hair dry and cause deeper damage.
Wash your hair first with warm water, then rinse with cold water to bring shine into your hair. Choose a shampoo and conditioner of high quality. But you don't have to spend much on your hair care products. There are home remedies that you can use as alternative.
Hair brushes are known to damage the hair. Too much pulling can damage not only the hair, but the scalp as well. Go for combs with rounded ends. Avoid metal or sharp-edged combs.
Remedies for Shiny and Healthy Hair You Can Find at Home
The acid found in vinegar helps make the hair shiny. The outer layer of the hair cuticle feels lighter, thus making it easier for light to reflect, and the result? Shiny hair. Go for apple cider. Besides aiding in keeping the hair shiny, it also restores its pH level.
This alcoholic beverage contains slight acid that gets rid of hair buildup. When there is too much buildup in the hair, it loses its shine. Pour a bottle of beer into the hair, massage the scalp and hair and rinse with cold water.
Who said that you need to spend too much for healthy hair?
Common Causes of Dry, Dull, and Weak Hair
It is definitely worthwhile to be picky when buying and using shampoo or any other hair products for that matter. Not all are appropriate for your hair. If you use the wrong one that is not suitable to the quality of your hair, you can definitely end up with a dull and damaged hair. Spend time to read the labels and assess whether it would be something that your hair actually needs.
While blowdrying may be necessary for you to look presentable, keep in mind that it's not good in the long run. Therefore, reduce the use of blowdry to occasions in which you can't avoid such as when you are going for a meeting or attending an event. Otherwise, if you can afford it, just let your hair naturally dry up.
Too much use of chemical treatments
If you are the type who visits the salon too often to avail and try out their different services, think twice. If you do this too often, you are exposing your hair to a lot of chemicals. In the long run, your hair may not be able to cope with it anymore.
Keeping yourself hydrated all the time can definitely do wonders to your hair. Make sure that you take in at least 8 glasses of water each day.
