Its only allowing me to put the SIM card pin which I did but it doest allow me to go to rhe next stage?

My phone is locked its asking for a protection password.the SIM card is not the original one. I need steps to follow if its not an original card. I have tried: I have switched off and on the phone ,enter the SIM pin number.I didn't manage to go to the next stage. I think it was caused by: My daughter played around with the phone and the theft application resumed
