Is it possible to use a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 tablet as a phone?
I broke my HTC Windows Phone and I can't afford the deductible on my insurance or a new phone. Can I switch the SIM cards and use the Galaxy Tab 3 as a phone?
Whether or not you can switch the SIM card from your HTC Windows Phone to your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 depends entirely upon whether or not your Galaxy Tab 3 is a cellular model. If it is not, you will not be able to transfer the SIM card into the tablet to use it as a phone. However, if your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is a cellular model, you may be able to transfer the SIM card to your tablet from your phone if they're the same size. From there, you will need to call your cell phone company and tell them that you're switching devices; since your tablet does not have the ability to send native phone calls or text messages, you will need to switch your plan to a tablet plan. Once your plan is switched, you can download the following applications to replace your phone functions and use your tablet as a phone:
- Skype -- you can link your phone number or create a new one and take calls. Note: calling on Skype may cost you money.
- Google Voice -- if you don't want to pay for Skype credit to make calls on your tablet, you will want to check out Google Voice. This great Google service allows you to create a phone number and text and call anyone in the United States for free, right from your tablet.
- Text Me! -- Text Me! allows you to create a new number based on your location to text people from. You can also earn free credits to use to call people by watching ads or downloading sponsored applications.
How can I make my Tab 3 take calls?
I Need my Tab 3 to take calls and it is not allowing me at all. I have tried: Nothing. I think it was caused by: Possibly an app needs to be downloaded
You can install Magicjack and make calls over WiFi or use an app like Google Hangouts or Skype to make calls. Magicjack works the best but even then, I would not rely on the Tab 3 as my primary calling source for a device.
How do I transfer contact list from iPhone 4S to Samsung Galaxy Note4?
How do I transfer contact list from iPhone 4S to Samsung Galaxy Note4?
You will install and use the Samsung Smart Switch if it is not already enabled on the Note4. Then you can transfer via a USB, over WiFi or using your desktop iTunes account and Smart Switch on the phone. The easiest way to transfer though is to sync your iPhone contacts from your iTunes account on the PC to your Google Account. From within iTunes, navigate in Settings to Info and then choose Sync Contacts With. You would put your Google Account here and then sync. Once you get the Note4, login with that Google Account in your phone settings and Sync. It can take several hours for the phone to fully sync and your contacts to appear.
Interested in getting a new phone out of contract for Verizon?
I'm considering buying a phone via Swappa or other retailer instead of upgrading directly with Verizon. I understand those don't come with their own SIM cards, so I'm trying to figure out what I would need to know to purchase a phone that will be compatible, and also what I would need to do to activate the new phone with the old SIM card.
You will want a phone that can function on the CDMA network. Some phones are dual meaning that they can work on GSM or CDMA but you will want to make sure before you swap. For instance, most phones originally on T-Mobile or Sprint will not work as well as phones from other parts of the world. You will also want to check Network Frequency values. Use Frequency Check with the phones you are considering to see if they are compatible with Verizon. A dual band phone would be a better option for frequency. Or look for a phone like the Motorola X Play that comes unlocked and works on LTE, WCDMA, CDMA and GSM.
