Edited by Grimm, Rose Najj, Jen M, Eng and 1 other
Hello, you are watching VisiHow. Today I am going to show you how you can install and setup an application for your child on kid's mode, to the Samsung Galaxy S5 or S5 mini.
Steps
1
Quick press on the lock screen button on the right side opens your phone to the lock screen
.
2
You have about 8 seconds only to give a quick swipe
.
Enter the pass- code pin or otherwise you are back to the lock screen, you just start doing that you get unlocked and take you directly to your home screen.
3
From the home screen if your phone is setup like mine, you will have a yellow background with crocodile icon
.
4
If not no problem, down in the right side, there is the apps icon
.
5
Tapping on that will bring you to the apps folder where you have all the phone's apps listed, you should see the same little yellow background icon with a green crocodile
.
6
Give it a quick press; this is going to open the Kids Mode
.
You will always come to default home screen of each time you open it.
7
To access to the parents control, press on the little mountain with the parent-child logo up the ocean, there you will see the parent control, and you need to dial in the pass-code
.
8
The crocodile will see your pass-code
.
1,2,3,4 that is my pass-code it is a very easy and simple pass-code.
9
It will always default to your child main activity; we are looking for the applications
.
10
When we tap the applications, there is often a small delay, as one slows the touch of Samsung icon
.
11
To begin with, you have a 30 maximum limit for the apps you could choose for your child.Your child will have favorites we are matching earlier in the daily activity of your child
.
I have just this small number of apps here.
12
However, I can always add more apps or delete apps, and I can tap this little small button here to CHANGE ORDER of which they appear
.
13
The apps order, which appears here is the most popular for the child on the home screen
.
Those who have more than one child, probably know that you can't have more than one kid's mode for a phone; Samsung wants you to buy a device for each child. If you have a small Samsung smartphone, you can have one phone for each child depending on whether both Mum and Dad gives their phone to the child to play with.
14
For our purposes tap 'On'
.
15
Is going to let us add a new application
.
16
Samsung does have this disclaimer that I am not going to read the entire thing
.
But essentially it says that you as parents are responsible for making sure that any app you install is proper for your child. This is because those apps sometimes get through, and sometimes the Samsung makes mistake and parents have different standards. Other parents have no standards at all. You can tap on' Do not show again', when you tap for the tools.
17
As you can see I have a number of kids game: Chess, Off Road Rally, Agent Alice, etc. Some of these apps he does not need, like the Antivirus. However, we need Angry Birds. Tap, and we will see a little Tick over there.
18
We can scroll down here and see other apps
.
He likes taking photos, we must grant him access to the camera, we need to tap into it to have a Tick.
19
Scroll down to see the games he likes, here is Stella Pop
!
20
He also likes Temple Run
.
Let us click on it.
21
Press 'Done' up there on the top of the phone
.
22
And now I have added some new apps for my son
.
23
Let us tap on Change order
.
I like to order the apps how he likes them most.
24
Let us tap on the icon that we want to move
.
Simply press on it, hold it and move it over. Press and hold and move it up.
25
26
Now I have added the apps for my boy
.
The screen has changed as I already ordered them.
27
Now if I want to delete something I don't want there, tap on the apps DELETE, and I am going to put a check on Stella Pop, for example, goodbye Stella
.
28
If I want to undelete it I press on Undo to get it back to the list
.
29
As I mentioned earlier things not always work exactly as they should in these apps
.
I have deleted Stella Pop and I press Undo but didn't put it back.
30
You should not mind issues in Samsung Galaxy 5 kids mode
.
It is unfortunate, but that is how it is. If you want to add more apps, you need to use the kid's store. We have a separate tutorial on How to use the kid's store. To come back to kid's mode, you can press back button or home button. Press on the home button, it takes you straight to the home kid's mode screen.
31
These new install apps will show as a present and the child will be happy when he sees it, and when he open it up it will be a great joy for your child.Another advice DO NOT tap on the present of the child, he may be extremely upset to them because you missed the present and it would take you as you saw 4 or 5 min
.
to get the present back.
32
To exit, you need to press the exit button
.
33
Tap the pass-code again 1,2,3,4 and you are out
.
Back to home screen and finishing the work here.
