Install Apps to Samsung Kids Mode from Google Play
Edited by Grimm, Margiebell, Eng, Jen M and 1 other
You are watching VisiHow. Today we are going to show you how you can install apps to kids mode from the Google Play Store on your Samsung Galaxy S5 or S5 Mini. The first thing we need to do is give a single press on the locked screen button on the right side of the phone.
Steps
1
Enter your passcode, enter your PIN, your secret words, swipe your fingerprint, or just swipe across the screen
.
That is depending on how you have your lock pattern or method set up.
2
This will bring you to the home screen
.
Unlike our other tutorials with kids mode, we are not actually going to press the kids mode icon. Instead, we are going to tap the Google Play Store icon so that we can download some great games for our child.
3
Alternatively, if you don't have this icon on your desktop, go down to the apps button on the right-hand side, give it a single press
.
It's going to open up the apps folder.
4
You're going to have to scroll through until you find that white Google Play briefcase
.
In my case, it is here. A little Pink Floyd-ish triangle on it. Give it a tap.
5
It's going to open up the Google Play Store
.
The Google Play Store will load up. You will have a selection at the top: Apps, games, movies, music, etc, etc.
6
We are looking for games, that why we came here
.
7
Now what you are going to look for, if you are like me, anyway, you are going to be looking at top free. Top free is going to bring up some games that your child might like to play.
8
Let's just assume that your child would like to play Candy Crush Soda Saga, and that you are the sort of parent that is going to let them play that and get addicted to it
.
Let's tap it.
9
Now, we have Candy Crush Soda Saga
.
I've already installed it for you so you don't have to wait for the download, you can simply tap open.
10
However, in this case, we are not going to be opening the application
.
Instead, we are going to switch back to kids mode. So once it's installed and you have finished the installation process, go down to the bottom of your phone and press that black oval button for you home screen. It might be a different color, depending on your model of phone, but it is always an oval shape. Give it a press.
11
It's going to take us back to the home screen
.
Now, as I mentioned earlier, we've got this yellow icon with a green crocodile in it.
12
If you don't have that, back to the apps button
.
Give it a single press.
13
Scroll around until you find the crocodile. Here he is on my phone. Let's give him a press.
14
Once you've pressed the crocodile, we are going to now tap on the parent's control icon
.
It's a little parent and child. Give it a little tap.
15
Open it up, enter in the pass-code you selected earlier
.
In my case, it is 1234, because I like very complex and hard to guess passcodes.
16
Now we are going to go down to applications
.
Tap on applications.
17
Applications will take a moment to load in, that's fine, there is nothing wrong with your phone, it always takes a minute to load in
.
It's how Samsung works. It's not a problem.
18
The only thing we need to do here is press the plus button
.
19
The plus sign is going to bring up a disclaimer
.
You should tap do not show again, and click accept. I am not tapping do not show simply because I need this to show up in my tutorials, while I am teaching people how to access these things.
20
Also, if my son ever gets to this window, and he comes to me and says "Papa help me", that's how I know that maybe I need to make a more secure password
.
Scroll down, continue scrolling down until we get to the C. The Candy Crush, let's find that. Here we go, Candy Crush Saga. Tap it. Then tap on done.
21
Now, it will take a minute, and Candy Crush Soda has been loaded up
.
Let's test it. Press the home button at the bottom of your screen.
22
Scroll back up to the top
.
The second little present there is Candy Crush, installed for my child.
23
That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you install applications from the Google Play Store
.
To get out of kids mode, tap on the exit icon.
24
25
We're back on the home screen. Kids mode has been exited from. And you have now learned how to install applications from the Google Play Store into the Samsung Galaxy S5 kids mode application. Thanks for choosing VisiHow, and have a great day. Any questions and comments, do please let us know in the section below.
