Hi you're watching VisiHow and today we're going to show you how to get your SD memory card installed in the Canon Vixia HFR 500 Series, or the Canon Legria HFR 500 Series. This is an HD handheld camcorder. It also works for the HFR 50 and 52 series that are basically the same device, the only difference is that the 50 and 52 series has a built in memory card. The HFR 500 series does not have a built in memory card. The device I'm using today is the Legria HFR506. It is simply the European version of the Vixia HFR500. It records in PAL instead of NTSC, which is not an issue since everything we do is going to be digital.

    The system will come on, and as you can see it's telling us that there's no memory card

    We have a Kingston 32GB Class 10 SD card
    .
    If you look on the packaging for this card it says it has up to 90MB/s rate, 45MB/s write, and it is designed for HD videos. Class 10 is what records quickly. This camera records at about 32MB/s, so it's very important that our card exceeds that at 45MB/s write time.

    Take your memory card, turn your camera on its side, and here is our SD card slot

    Take our SD card, and make sure that our card is not locked by checking the slide tab on the side of the side of the card
    .
    If that card is locked that means you can't use it, so make sure that it is unlocked.

    The SD card will slide in on an angle, not straight in
    .
    Gently push it until it is in.

    To remove the SD card, as you can see on the camera it says Push to Eject
    .
    You simply open the SD card slot, push the SD card one time, it will pop out and your SD card is out. That's all you have to do.
