How can I find my firmware model?

My phone is always showing me an error. I can't open the settings. I have tried: Searching the web.

If you are still getting errors trying to open up the Android system-wide settings app, there is an alternative way you can try to obtain the firmware version of your Samsung device. If you are able to, can you open the phone app? Or does it give you an error with opening the phone app and crash as well? If it doesn't crash, open the phone app, and type the following code into the dialer, *#*#4636#*#*. You will then have 4 information panels that you can choose from to view the information in that category. (i.e. Phone Information, Battery Information, etc.)

My phone is boot looping, how can I check for the version of FW if I cannot go to settings? Please help?

I have a Galaxy Y and it is boot looping, I want to get the exact FW for it, how can I check for the version installed?

You cannot check the firmware version on a device that cannot boot up, but you can obtain up-to-date official firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ by entering your model name. If you are not sure what your model number is, remove the cover and the battery to locate it on the back of the phone.
