You can change your email info by logging in to Gmail's website using your PC or Laptop. Once logged in, click on the account link and in security, you can change the password. See screen shot here:

You just need to deactivate that email account on your phone. Go to your settings and then go to your mail settings and then click deactivate. If you do not want to deactivate and you just want to reduce the notifications that you get, you can keep the mail in your phone but you would not set push notifications for this. You only have to open your mail to know if you have new messages.
