How to get Samsung 4GS to show up in File Manager for file xfer?

My Galaxy only sees connection to my computer as a charging port, does not allow me to transfer files. I don't know what I did, it used to function so that I could move files and look at content. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem as in this post. I can import all the photos from my phone, and I can see them, but it leaves out the videos?

Videos are not being imported. When I check to see where they are on my phone, then I check the phone from my PC, they are not there. But I can see them on my phone with all my other photos, in Gallery.

By downloading my videos to my PC

I have done this on my device many times when needed to free up some space or simply place the video on my computer for safe keeping. I will instruct you on what to do after you plug your device up to your computer:

-Plug the device up to the computer using your USB chord

-On your computer open up the files on your device which will pop up after plugging it into the computer

-Make a folder on your desktop for the files you are going to place in just to label it for your records

-In the phones folder click on DCIM

-Locate the video

-Drag the video from the phones folder to the folder you created on your desktop

-From here the video will copy itself to your computer

These steps are what I have used to copy my videos from my S4 to my computer. After copying delete the video from your device.

Hello, can you tell me if you are seeing this live?

I'm having trouble seeing any of my Android Galaxy S4's files on my PC. It has worked flawlessly in the past. What used to happen when connecting to laptop via USB: "connected as an installer", which I would then change to "connect as media device" and all was good. Now, the phone does not offer these options, and only charges. The laptop does not recognize the phone either.
