How to unlock my Tecno phone without losing data or resseting?

I changed my pattern then afterwards l forgot l am using a friend's phone to know what to do. My phone is not actually responding to all those expllanations. I have tried: To follow all your instructions

I did the first step by pressing the volume down and the lock button simultanoesly

Then it unlocked again and k let go of the buttons. I think it was caused by: I forgot the pattern amd l have tried and yet it is not responding
