To unlock your Moto G2 Lollipop version pattern lock without doing a hard reset you need to first shut the phone off and then turn it back on. While the phone is starting up you need to repeatedly and rapidly press on the home button until the password screen and keypad screen appears. You should then be able to access the home screens. Quickly access the setting app and then go to Accounts and clear all accounts except for the Google account which is your main account. Quickly flick the power button on and off again to get the user name and password fields for Google to appear on your screen. Enter your details and create your new password or pattern.
