You would have to hard reset the phone not to use the password. Also, newer phones with Lollipop or Marshmallow OS require you to input still the last Google Account associated with the device even after a hard reset. There is a way to bypass Google on most phones, and you can see YouTube videos on how to do so but still, it is not simple. Plus you will lose all of your data. Using ADB tools to unlock for instance, only works if you have ADB preloaded on the phone and your USB debugging in enabled from within Developer Tools. You can't access this if your phone is locked with a password. Some software claims to still unlock the phone however many end up bricking their phones when they try this.
