Since you installed an app for Kids Mode, navigate to Applications Manager. Then uninstall the app. You can also contact the app to see if they have a default pin for issues like yours where none have been set up.

How to come out of child mode in mi 4, since I do not know the password?

I turned on the child mode and selected a few app. I did not set any password, but now when I want to turn off the child mode it is asking for password. How to come out of this. I definitely do not want a factory reset.

Try the steps in this YouTube Tutorial. The Mi devices have a bug with Kids Mode. You may still have to perform a factory reset if this video does not allow you to exit Kids Mode because of the bug.

The Airplane Mode trick is the only solution. Since it did not work on your Redmi 2, you will have to factory reset the device.
