How can I tell if a Samsung Galaxy Note5 is real or fake?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note5 with AT&T symbol on the back, my friend has one with Samsung symbol, I'm just curious. I have tried: Nothing. I think it was caused by: buying from someone whom I thought I could trust; now, I'm skeptical because I have yet to receive the charger. Now, this person is a store manager for Metropcs

This looks like a carrier-locked or a carrier-locked unlocked Note5. When you have your USB cable, connect it to your computer and test if Smart Switch or Kies can detect it. If it can be detected, then it is a genuine carrier-locked device. To check the lock status, insert any non-AT&T SIM card. If the phone has a signal, then it is a modified (unlocked) carrier-locked device. If there is no signal, then test it with an AT&T SIM card. the device should work.
